Peter Schmidl
Peter Schmidl (born 10 January 1942) is an Austrian clarinetist. Schmidl was born in Olomouc, Czech Republic, and studied clarinet with Rudolf Jettel at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna. He was the principal clarinetist of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. He has played with the MDR Orchestra, the Salzburg Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, Mozarteum Orchestra, and the Tokyo New Philharmonia Orchestra (Japan), New Philharmonia. He has taught at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna since 1967. Ulrich Schmidl
Ulrich Schmidl or Schmidel (1510 in Straubing - 1579 in Regensburg) was a German Landsknecht, conquistador, explorer, chronicler and councilman. Schmidl was, beside Hans Staden, one of the few Landsknechts who wrote down their experiences of travel in the New World. Biography Schmidl was the son of a wealthy merchant, and received a good education. He entered military service and took part in 1534 as a Landsknecht under Pedro de Mendoza in an expedition to today's Argentina (Río de la Plata). He also accompanied Juan de Ayolas on his first trip in quest of provisions, and afterward went with Ayolas in his expedition up the Paraguay River, and was one of the soldiers that were left with Domingo Irala in charge of the vessels in Puerto la Candelaria (modern Fuerte Olimpo). Dovid Schmidel
Dovid Shmidel (also spelled Dovid Schmidel, Polish: Szmiedl; born 1934) of Bnei Brak is a rabbi and the Chairman of Asra Kadisha (the Committee for the Preservation of Gravesites). He was involved in struggles against excavations at various locations including at the Tomb of Maimonides in Tiberias in 1956 and at Israel's Highway 6; as well as at the disputed tomb of Antigonus II Mattathias in East Jerusalem. For an entire year, Shmidel was occupied with preserving the old Jewish cemetery in Egypt. Shmidel heads a kolel in Komemiyut for tens of married men who live in Jerusalem, Beit Shemesh, and other places, but they stay all week at the kolel and only go home for Shabbat. Shmidel delivers ''shiurim'' once or twice a week. He was born in Vienna on April 2, 1934. In 1939, at age 5, he moved with his family to Mandatory Palestine.
