Wizex
Wizex is a Swedish dansband formed in Osby in 1973. It purchased the rights to the name from a band that started as ''Ulrik Wittmans Kvintett'' in 1957''.'' When Ulrik Wittman left the band in 1963 they started to use the name ''Wizex''. When read out the name sounds like "The Six of Us", "vi sex", in Swedish, and it was six persons left in the band when they changed the name. Today's band had six founders and was allowed to purchase the name, and hence use 1973 as the starting point. Wizex broke through in 1977 when they performed on nationwide TV-show '' Nygammalt'' and got its first top ten on the Swedish charts same year with the song ''Vagabond.'' The following year they finished 2nd in the Swedish Melodifestivalen 1978. Jitterbug and foxtrot music are often included in this category. The music is primarily inspired by swing, schlager, country, jazz, and rock. The Swedish entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 1967 was Östen Warnerbring and the song "Som en dröm", composed by Curt Pettersson and Marcus Österdahl and written by Patrice Hellberg. The national selection was for the first time called "Melodifestivalen", a name that remains to this day. Before Eurovision Melodifestivalen 1967 Melodifestivalen 1967 was the selection for the ninth song to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. It was the eighth time that this system of picking a song had been used. Approximately 1,800 songs were submitted to Sveriges Television, SVT for the competition. The final was held in the Cirkus (Stockholm), Cirkus in Stockholm on 24 February 1967, hosted by Maud Husberg and broadcast on SVT1, Sveriges Radio TV but it was not broadcast on radio. Sweden was represented by Inger Berggren, singing "Sol och vår", in the Eurovision Song Contest 1962. Berggren was selected by a national final called ''Eurovisionsschlagern, svensk final''. Another singer, Lily Berglund, also sung the song there. The song was written and composed by Ulf Källkvist and Åke Gerhard. At the Eurovision Song Contest, held in Luxembourg, Berggren came 7th out of 16. Sweden chose their entrant for the Eurovision Song Contest 1961 through Melodifestivalen 1961. The song "April, april", performed once with Siw Malmkvist, once with Gunnar Wiklund, won. However, none of them was considered acceptable for singing in ESC, so Lill-Babs was chosen as representative instead.
