Sauer's Garden is a neighborhood in the West End of Richmond, Virginia. The neighborhood began development in the 1920s, and now contains about 300 homes. History The neighborhood was developed and named for Conrad Frederick Sauer Conrad Frederick Sauer (also known as Cuno F. Sauer; October 13, 1866 – November 23, 1927) was a German American pharmacist from Richmond, Virginia who founded the C.F. Sauer Company on October 13, 1887, his 21st birthday. Development of the neighborhood began in the 1920s, and was originally focused around a large garden property, which included a fountain, lake and an "artificial mountain". The garden later went into disrepair and was torn down in the 1980s. Henrico County
Henrico County , officially the County of Henrico, is located in the Commonwealth of Virginia in the United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 334,389 making it the fifth-most populous county in Virginia. Henrico County is included in the Greater Richmond Region. There is no incorporated community within Henrico County; therefore, there is no incorporated county seat either. Laurel, an unincorporated CDP, serves this function. Colonial Place
Colonial Place is a residential neighborhood in Norfolk, Virginia. It is a peninsula bordered by 38th Street on the south, and surrounded on three sides by the Lafayette River. It is a relatively racially mixed area that includes mostly single family homes and a few apartment buildings. Many large homes front the water and Mayflower Road arches around the shore of the river. The Colonial Place Historic District is a national historic district listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. The Museum District, alternately known as West of the Boulevard, is a neighborhood in the city of Richmond, Virginia. It is anchored by the contiguous six-block tract of museums along the west side of Boulevard (Richmond, Virginia), Boulevard, including the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and the Virginia Historical Society, Virginia Museum of History & Culture, hence the name. It is roughly bounded by the Boulevard (and the Fan District) on the east, I-195 on the west, Monument Avenue and Broad Street on the north, and Carytown, Richmond, Virginia, Carytown on the south. Much of that is listed as a historic district on the National Register of Historic Places. West End (Richmond, Virginia)
The West End is a part of Richmond, Virginia. Definitions of the bounds of the West End vary, it may include only the western part of the city of Richmond or extend as far as western Henrico County. As there is no one municipal organization that represents this specific region, the boundaries are loosely defined as being north of the James River, west of I-195, and south of Broad Street. Historically, the Richmond neighborhoods of the Fan and the Museum District were a part of the West End. A primary conduit through the West End is Interstate 64.
