Sattahip
Sattahip ( th, สัตหีบ, ) is a district (''amphoe'') in Chonburi province, Thailand. It is at the southern tip of the province southeast of Bangkok. In 2014, the district had a population of 157,000 in an area of 348,122 km2. Geography Neighboring districts are Bang Lamung district, Bang Lamung to the north, and Ban Chang district, Ban Chang of Rayong province to the east. To the south and the west is the Gulf of Thailand. Islands Several islands are in Sattahip District, the largest of which is Ko Khram, Ko Khram Yai. Many of the islands are in Sattahip Bay (อ่าวสัตหีบ). History The recorded history of Sattahip begins with a woman named Jang, who owned much land in Sattahip District. Sattahip Bay
Sattahip Bay ( th, อ่าวสัตหีบ, , ) is a bay in the east side of the Gulf of Siam or Gulf of Thailand. It is in Sattahip District, Chonburi Province, Thailand. History Prince Abhakara Kiartivongse (1880–1923), son of King Chulalongkorn, inspected Sattahip Bay in 1922 and saw that it was an ideal place to establish a naval base. Subsequently, he offered royal land in Sattahip in order to build the present-day naval facilities. Sattahip Bay is the part of the Sattahip Naval Base area, the largest base of the Royal Thai Navy. Occasionally Sattahip Bay is invaded by jellyfish. Geography Sattahip Bay lies at the south end of Chonburi Province. It is open towards the southwest and is bound by limestone rock formations forming peninsulas to the west over Laem Chalak and to the southeast at Khao Chong Khaep. Ko Khram
Ko Khram ( th, เกาะคราม, ), also known as Ko Khram Yai (, ), is an island in Bangkok Bay about 24 km south southwest of Pattaya. It is the largest of the eastern seaboard islands of Thailand and the largest island in the bay. Geography Ko Khram is thickly wooded and uninhabited. It has a length of 5.7 km and its maximum width is about 4 km. The island's coast is formed by rocky cliffs with white sandy beaches in between. This island marks the southeasternmost point of the Bay of Bangkok, on the east side of the Gulf of Siam. Administratively Ko Khram belongs to Sattahip District, Chonburi Province. Ko Khram is separated from the shore by a 3.4 km wide sound. Bang Lamung District
Bang Lamung ( th, บางละมุง, ) is a district (''amphoe'') in the southern part of Chonburi province, Thailand. History ''Mueang'' Bang Lamung was formerly in Ban Bang Lamung, Tambon Bang Lamung. However, the government downgraded Bang Lamung to a district, with the district office on the banks of Khlong Nok Yang. In 1909, the district head, ''Phraya'' Sattaya Nukun (Choem), moved the district office to the seacoast in Tambon Na Kluea. On 21 October 1952 the district office was completely destroyed by a storm. The office set up temporarily in Bang Lamung School, Sukhumvit Road. The following year the Thai government approved building a new district office near the school. It is still in use today.
