Saravan, Iran
Saravan ( Balochi and fa, سراوان, Sarāwān, also Romanized as Sarāvān; formerly, Shastoon) is a city in and the capital of Saravan County, Sistan and Baluchestan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 58,652, in 10,078 families. Saravan lies in the Iranian Balochistan, close to the international border of Pakistan. The inhabitants of the city are Baloch and speak the Balochi language. It is the center of Saravan County. The city lies in a long valley in the south of Masheked and north of Makran. Earthquake In winter of 2013 a major earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 Richter occurred near the city of Saravan. Sarawan
Sarawan ( Balochi: سراوان) was a division of the former princely state of Kalat in Baluchistan, Pakistan, with an area . To the north were Quetta, Pishin, Bolan Pass and Sibi District. On the south was the division of Jhalawan. The main mountain ranges are Nagau, Bhaur, Zamuri hills, Bangulzai hills with the peaks of Moro, Dilband and Harboi. History Sarawan tribal area was ruled by many empires including the Ghaznavid Empire and Ghorid empires, until the end of the 15th century. In 1666, Mir Aḥmad Khan Qambrani was ruler of Khanate of Kalat. In 1758, Muhammad Nasir Khan I came into power. Nasir Khan II was brought on throne by Sarawan tribesmen in the 1840. Saravan ( fa, سراوان, also Romanized as Sarāvān, Sarawān, and Seravan) is a village in Saravan Rural District of Sangar District, Rasht County, Gilan province, Gilan province, Iran. At the 2006 National Census, its population was 5,740 in 1,511 households. The following census in 2011 counted 6,073 people in 1,837 households. The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 5,542 people in 1,837 households. It was the largest village in its rural district. The Aswārān (singular aswār), also spelled Asbārān and Savaran, was a cavalry force that formed the backbone of the Military of the Sasanian Empire, army of the Sasanian Empire.
