Joan Abrahamson
Joan Abrahamson (born Los Angeles, California, United States) is an attorney, artist, former government appointee, and activist who is founder and president of the Jefferson Institute. She also worked in international security and economics, health, and the study of the creative process. Jonas Salk, a family friend, was a mentor to Abrahamson. Career Prior to her founding the Jefferson Institute, Abrahamson was Assistant Chief of Staff to Vice President George H. W. Bush. As a White House Fellow, she served as Special Assistant and Associate Counsel to Vice Presidents Walter Mondale and George Bush. Prior to this, she worked for the United Nations Human Rights Commission in Geneva and for UNESCO’s Division of Human Rights and Peace in Paris. The MacArthur Fellows Program, also known as the MacArthur Fellowship and commonly but unofficially known as the "Genius Grant", is a prize awarded annually by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation typically to between 20 and 30 individuals, working in any field, who have shown "extraordinary originality and dedication in their creative pursuits and a marked capacity for self-direction" and are citizens or residents of the United States. According to the foundation's website, "the fellowship is not a reward for past accomplishment, but rather an investment in a person's originality, insight, and potential," but it also says such potential is "based on a track record of significant accomplishments." Alison Saar (born February 5, 1956) is a Los Angeles, California based sculptor, mixed-media, and installation artist. Her artwork focuses on the African diaspora and black female identity and is influenced by African, Caribbean, and Latin American folk art and spirituality. Laddie John Dill
Laddie John Dill (born Long Beach, CA, 1943) is an American artist. Dill calls his work "light sentences". Dill received a BFA degree from Chouinard Art Institute, Los Angeles, in 1968. Education Dill was educated at the Chouinard Art Institute in California, where he graduated with a BFA degree with honors in 1968. After he graduated, he worked as a printing apprentice to Robert Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein and Claes Oldenberg. Work Dill is associated with the California " Light and Space Movement". His work has been widely exhibited in museums and galleries, including those in New York, Paris, Seoul and other locations nationally and internationally.
