Sant'Uldarico, Parma
The church of Sant'Uldarico is located on Farini Street in Parma. History The church of Sant'Uldarico was built on the site of ancient Roman theater, and initially consecrated in 1411. The present fa̤ade was completed in 1762 by Gaetano Ghidetti. The frescoes of the cupola and nave are by Antonio Bresciani. The church contains also paintings by Lionello Spada, Clemente Ruta Clemente Ruta (9 May 1668 Р11 November 1767) was an Italian painter of the late- Baroque period. Gaetano Ghidetti
Gaetano Ghidetti (6 April 1723, in Parma – 22 September 1792, in Parma) was an Italian scenic designer, quadratura painter, and architect. History He trained with his father, a wood and frame artist, and began as a painter of architectural details. He worked on many architectural projects, including the facade of Sant'Uldarico, and the interiors of Sant'Antonio Abate. He is also known for his work as a scenic designer. In 1757, along with Antonio Malagoli, he painted the scenery for three operas: ''La buona figliuola'', ''Catone in Utica'', and ''Issipile''. In 1758, he collaborated with Ruspaggiari to paint the decoration for the French ballet for the opera, ''Recimiro re de' Goti''. Also in that year he decorated the Teatrino Ducale di Colorno. Antonio Bresciani
Antonio Bresciani ( Piacenza, 1720 - 31 October 1817) was an Italian painter and engraver. Biography He was born to poor parents trained under Carlo Bianchi in Piacenza. He moved in 1740 to work in Bologna with Donato Creti. In 1748, he moved back to Piacenza and engraved some of the works of Ludovico Carracci. He moved to Parma, where he painted a canvas of ''San Macario'' for the church of Sant'Eulalia (parish church of Sant'Ilario d'Enza). Lionello Spada
Leonello Spada (also called ''Lionello Spada'') (1576 – 17 May 1622) was an Italian painter of the Baroque period, active in Rome and his native city of Bologna, where he became known as one of the followers of Caravaggio. Biography He first apprenticed with painter Cesare Baglioni. By the early 17th century, Spada was active, together with Girolamo Curti, as a member of a team specializing in decorative quadratura painting in Bologna. His early independent canvases reflect a mannerist style akin to the Flemish Denis Calvaert who resided in Bologna. Clemente Ruta (9 May 1668 – 11 November 1767) was an Italian painter of the late- Baroque period. Giovan Battista Borghesi'', also called ''Giovanni Battista or Giambattista (25 November 1790 – 11 December 1846) was an Italian painter and scenic designer of the Neoclassic period, active mainly in Parma. Biography He studied in Parma under Biagio Martini. Among his first works were frescoes of the ''Death of Hector'' and ''Flight of the Vestals'' painted for the house of his uncle, Pietro Borghesi.
