The Sant'Anna di Stazzema massacre was a German war crime committed in the hill village of Sant'Anna di Stazzema in Tuscany, Italy, in the course of an operation against the Italian resistance movement during the Italian Campaign of World War II. On 12 August 1944 the Waffen-SS, with the help of the Brigate Nere, murdered about 560 local villagers and refugees, including more than a hundred children, and burned their bodies. These crimes have been defined as voluntary and organized acts of terrorism by the Military Tribunal of La Spezia and the highest Italian court of appeal. Sant'Anna di Stazzema, officially Sant'Anna, is a village in Tuscany, Italy. Administratively, it is a ''frazione'' of the ''comune'' of Stazzema, in the province of Lucca. History In 1944, it was the site of a notorious Nazi crime against humanity committed by a part of German 16th SS Panzergrenadier Division Reichsführer-SS during World War II. In the morning of 12 August, about 560 villagers and refugees (including 130 children) were murdered and their bodies burnt in a scorched earth policy action. Sant'Anna ("Saint Anne", also called ''Sant'Anna Cappuccini'') is a Catholic church in Alcamo, in the province of Trapani, Sicily, southern Italy. It is annexed to the former monastery of the Capuchine friars and it belongs to the (FEC). History The Church was built between 1630 and 1634, and the ex friary between 1633 and 1636. The Chiesetta di Sant'Anna, or Small Church of Saint Anne, is a Roman Catholic church located in San Damiano, a hamlet of Brugherio, in the Province of Monza and Brianza, Italy. History The church, known as "geseta de Sant'Anna", is located on the site of a ninth century church dedicated to Saints Cosmas and Damian, itself attached to a monastery. During his pastoral visit in 1578, Charles Borromeo decided to demolish the building. In the eighteenth century the new church was built, consisting of a private chapel adjacent to the Villa Viganoni-Benavides, the summer residence of the Parravicini family during the nineteenth century. This was also demolished. The church was dedicated to Saint Anne probably by Antonio Parravicini and his wife Isabella Blasi. Sant'Anna a Capuana is a church located on the piazza of the same name in Naples, Italy. The church was founded in the 16th century near the former city gate at Porta Capuana, as a small chapel for the monks of the Convent of San Francesco di Paola. Construction of the present structure dates from 1751, a design by Giuseppe Astarita. The interior has a raised altar reached by a double ramp stairwell. The canvas in the cupola depicts the ''Holy Family with St Anne'' by Marco Cardisco. The organ was made in 1753, by Nicola and Carlo Mancini.
