Sanctuary Of Fátima
The Sanctuary of Fátima ( pt, Santuário de Fátima), officially titled Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fátima (''Santuário de Nossa Senhora do Rosário de Fátima''), is a Marian shrine dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima located in Fátima, in the municipality of Ourém, in Portugal. It consists of a group of Catholic religious buildings and structures with the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary (''BasÃlica de Nossa Senhora do Rosário'') as the main building. In addition to the basilica, the shrine contains the Chapel of the Lausperene (''Capela do Lausperene''), a great oak tree near where the 1917 Marian Apparitions occurred, a monument to the Sacred Heart of Jesus (''Monumento ao Sagrado Coração de Jesus'') and the Chapel of the Apparitions (''Capelinha das Aparições'') which contains the area where three children, Lúcia dos Santos and her cousins, Francisco and Jacinta Marto, said they were first visited by the Virgin Mary. Chapel Of The Apparitions
The Chapel of the Apparitions ( pt, Capelinha das Aparições) is a small chapel located in Cova da Iria that was first constructed in 1919, and again in the early 1920s, to mark the exact location where three little shepherd children reported having received the famous apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Fátima, Portugal. The chapel was built in response to the demand of Our Lady of the Rosary (after named as Our Lady of Fátima) to the three little shepherds ( Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta): "I want you to make a chapel here in my honour". The chapel was built on the exact spot of the apparitions in Fátima in 1917 as half-remembered by Lúcia. From 28 April to 15 June 1919, the task of constructing the chapel was performed by a mason by the name of Joaquim Barbeiro from the village of Santa Catarina da Serra. The Three Secrets of Fátima () are a series of apocalyptic visions and prophecies which were given to three young Portuguese shepherds, Lúcia Santos and her cousins Jacinta and Francisco Marto, by a Marian apparition, starting on 13 May 1917. The three children claimed to have been visited by the Virgin Mary six times between May and October 1917. The apparition is now popularly known as Our Lady of Fátima. The Miracle of the Sun ( pt, Milagre do Sol), also known as the Miracle of Fátima, is a series of events reported to have occurred miraculously on 13 October 1917, attended by a large crowd who had gathered in Fátima, Portugal, in response to a prophecy made by three shepherd children, Lúcia Santos and Francisco and Jacinta Marto. The prophecy was that the Virgin Mary (referred to as Our Lady of Fátima), would appear and perform miracles on that date. Newspapers published testimony from witnesses who said that they had seen extraordinary solar activity, such as the Sun appearing to "dance" or zig-zag in the sky, careen towards the Earth, or emit multicolored light and radiant colors. Valinhos (Fátima)
Valinhos is a countryside place on the outskirts of Fátima, Portugal. This place became famous for the 19 August 1917 apparition of Our Lady of Fátima and by the 1st and 3rd apparitions of the Guardian Angel of Portugal (also named ''the Angel of Peace''). As such, it is a popular site for religious tourism. Points of Interest In Valinhos, there are points of interest such as the ''Via Sacra'' or ''Caminho dos Pastorinhos'' (path of the little shepherds), which takes pilgrims along 14 chapels that represent the different stations of the Way of the Cross. The Via Sacra begins at Rotunda Sul and ends at the Hungarian Calvary (Calvário Húngaro), where there is a chapel dedicated to St. Stephen. 14 of the 15 stations were donated by Hungarian refugees.
