San Mateo County Board Of Supervisors
The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors is the five-member elected body that supervises the operation of San Mateo County, California. Board members represent one of five districts of roughly equal population within the county, elected, since a 2012 charter change, only by voters in their own district. The current board members are Dave Pine (District 1), Carole Groom (District 2), Don Horsley (District 3), Warren Slocum (District 4), and David Canepa (District 5). Election results Warren Slocum replaced termed-out District 4 Supervisor Rose Jacobs Gibson in January 2013 in the last at-large vote for Supervisor due to the passage of Measure B, mandating supervisorial elections by voters of the same district. San Mateo County ( ), officially the County of San Mateo, is a county located in the U.S. state of California. As of the 2020 census, the population was 764,442. Redwood City is the county seat, and the third most populated city following Daly City and San Mateo. San Mateo County is included in the San Francisco-Oakland-Berkeley, CA MSA (metropolitan statistical area), Silicon Valley, and is part of the San Francisco Bay Area, the nine counties bordering San Francisco Bay. Dave Pine
Dave Pine is an American politician and attorney serving as a member of the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors for District 1, which includes the eastern two-thirds of South San Francisco and all of San Bruno, Millbrae, Burlingame, and Hillsborough. Early life and education Dave Pine was born in Massachusetts and grew up in New Hampshire, where his father worked as a professor and his mother was a teacher. He has two siblings. While a freshman at Dartmouth College, Pine ran for and won a seat in the New Hampshire House of Representatives and at age 19, was one of the youngest ever elected. Mark Church is a British cricket commentator. He is currently a commentator for BBC London 94.9, reporting on all Surrey County Cricket Club's matches. The San Mateo Union High School District is a high school district headquartered in San Mateo, California. In addition to San Mateo, the district serves the cities of San Bruno, Millbrae, Burlingame, Hillsborough, and Foster City. Burlingame () is a city in San Mateo County, California. It is located on the San Francisco Peninsula and has a significant shoreline on San Francisco Bay. The city is named after diplomat Anson Burlingame and is known for its numerous eucalyptus groves, high quality of life, walkable downtown area, and public school system. As of the 2020 census, the city population was 31,386. History Burlingame is situated on land previously owned by San Francisco-based merchant William Davis Merry Howard. Howard planted many eucalyptus trees on his property and retired to live on the land. Howard died in 1856 and the land was sold to William C. Ralston, a prominent banker.
