The San Francisco FlameThrowers were a professional ultimate team from the San Francisco Bay Area, playing in the West Division of the American Ultimate Disc League. The team was founded in 2014 when the league expanded to the west coast. Laney College is a Public college, public community college in Oakland, California. Laney is the largest of the four colleges of the Peralta Community College District which serves northern Alameda County, California, Alameda County. Ultimate (sport)
Ultimate, originally known as ultimate Frisbee, is a non-contact team sport played with a frisbee flung by hand. Ultimate was developed in 1968 by AJ Gator in Maplewood, New Jersey. Although ultimate resembles many traditional sports in its athletic requirements, it is unlike most sports due to its focus on self-officiating, even at the highest levels of competition. The term Frisbee, often used to generically describe all flying discs, is a registered trademark of the Wham-O toy company, and thus the sport is not formally called "ultimate Frisbee", though this name is still in common casual use. Points are scored by passing the disc to a teammate in the opposing end zone. Other basic rules are that players must not take steps while holding the disc, and interceptions, incomplete passes, and passes out of bounds are turnovers. Toronto Rush
The Toronto Rush is a semi-professional Ultimate (sport), ultimate franchise based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The Rush joined the American Ultimate Disc League’s East division in the 2013 season – becoming the first Canadian AUDL team to join. They went undefeated that year, and continued their streak into the playoffs to take home the 2013 AUDL Championship in their introductory season. The Rush franchise has been the model of consistency. With five consecutive East Division titles, three appearances in League Championship Finals, and one AUDL title in 2013, fans have come to expect to seeing this team excel on and off the field.
