Samuel Williams Inge
Samuel Williams Inge (February 22, 1817 – June 10, 1868) was an American politician and a member of the United States House of Representatives from Alabama. Early life Samuel Williams Inge was born on February 22, 1817, in Warren County, North Carolina. He moved to Greene County, Alabama, attended the public schools, and studied law. He was admitted to the bar. Career Inge commenced practice in Livingston, Alabama in Sumter County, Alabama. He was a member of the Alabama House of Representatives in 1844 and 1845. He was elected as a Democrat to the Thirtieth and Thirty-first Congresses. He served from March 4, 1847 to March 3, 1851. During the Thirty-first Congress, he was chairman of the United States House Committee on the District of Columbia. He participated in a duel with Edward Stanly, a Representative from North Carolina, in Bladensburg near Washington, D.C., but neither was seriously injured. Bladensburg is a town in Prince George's County, Maryland. The population was 9,657 at the 2020 census. Areas in Bladensburg are located within ZIP code 20710. Bladensburg is from central Washington. History Originally called Garrison's Landing, Bladensburg was renamed in honor of Thomas Bladen, governor of Maryland, 1742–1747. Bladensburg was established in 1742 as a regional commercial center by an act of the Maryland General Assembly. The act also authorized the town commissioners to purchase of land to be laid out in lots. The act required that a house covering at least of ground with a brick or stone chimney be constructed within 18 months of the sale of the lot. As of 6 June 1746, only 18 of the lots had been improved according to the stipulations of the act. Colma, California
Colma (Ohlone for "Springs") is a small incorporated List of municipalities in California, town in San Mateo County, California, on the San Francisco Peninsula in the San Francisco Bay Area. The population was 1,507 at the 2020 census. The town was founded as a necropolis in 1924. With most of Colma's land dedicated to cemetery, cemeteries, the population of the dead—not specifically known but speculated to be around 1.5 million—outnumbers that of the living by a ratio of nearly a thousand to one. This has led to Colma being called "the City of the Silent" and has given rise to a humorous motto, formerly featured on the city's website: "It's great to be alive in Colma". Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma
Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Colma, California is an American Roman Catholic cemetery operated by the Archdiocese of San Francisco. Established in 1887 on of a former potato farm, it is the oldest and largest cemetery established in Colma to serve the needs of San Francisco. History Several notable people are buried at Holy Cross, including former politicians, and people of the California Gold Rush. Many of the people interred at the Catholic Calvary Cemetery of San Francisco, were reburied between 1937 and 1945 at Holy Cross in a project to relocate graves outside of the city. There is a memorial sculpture features three crosses and reads: “Interred here are the remains of 39,307 Catholics moved from Mt. Calvary Cemetery in 1940 and 1941 by order of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. Calvary Cemetery (San Francisco, California)
Lone Mountain Cemetery was a complex of cemeteries in the Lone Mountain neighborhood of San Francisco, California on the land bounded by the present-day California Street, Geary Boulevard, Parker Avenue, and Presidio Avenue. Opened 1854, it eventually comprised Laurel Hill Cemetery, Calvary Cemetery, the Masonic Cemetery, and Odd Fellows Cemetery. Pressure to close the complex began around the beginning of the twentieth century, and by 1941 all remains within it had been moved elsewhere, mostly to a new necropolis in Colma, California, though some were never accounted for.
