Samuel ''Šəmūʾēl'', Tiberian: ''Šămūʾēl''; ar, شموئيل or صموئيل '; el, Σαμουήλ ''Samouḗl''; la, Samūēl is a figure who, in the narratives of the Hebrew Bible, plays a key role in the transition from the biblical judges to the United Kingdom of Israel under Saul, and again in the monarchy's transition from Saul to David. He is venerated as a prophet in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. In addition to his role in the Hebrew scriptures, Samuel is mentioned in Jewish rabbinical literature, in the Christian New Testament, and in the second chapter of the Quran (although Islamic texts do not mention him by name). Samuel Gordon (New York Politician)
Samuel Gordon (April 28, 1802 – October 28, 1873) was an American lawyer and politician who served as a United States representative from New York, serving two non-consecutive terms from 1841 to 1843, and from 1845 to 1847. Biography Gordon was born at Wattle's Ferry on April 28, 1802. He attended public schools and became a farmer. He later studied law, was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Delhi. Early political career Gordon was appointed postmaster of Delhi on September 14, 1831, and held that position until August 16, 1841. He was a member of the New York State Assembly, as district attorney of Delaware County and was town supervisor of the town of Delhi for several terms. Samuel Gordon (Australian Politician)
Samuel Deane Gordon (12 October 1811 – 24 July 1882) was an Australian merchant, pastoralist and politician. He was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council between 1861 and 1882. He was also a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly for three terms from 1856 until 1860. Early life Gordon was the son of an Irish farmer, David Gordon and his wife Mary Deane. Gordon was educated in private schools in Ireland. He emigrated to Sydney in 1829 and worked in a number of mercantile houses before commencing his own company, which was involved in trade between Van Diemen's Land and New South Wales. In 1840 Gordon established a large store in Liverpool, founded a brewery and acquired 50,000 acres of pastoral land on the Murrumbidgee River. In 1848, Gordon sold his assets in Liverpool at a great profit and became a wine and spirits merchant in Sydney. The 37th New York State Legislature, consisting of the New York State Senate and the New York State Assembly, met from January 25 to April 15, 1814, during the seventh year of Daniel D. Tompkins's governorship, in Albany. Samuel Simon Gordon (April 21, 1878 – November 30, 1962) was an American Negro league first baseman between 1908 and 1913. A native of Fraziers Bottom, West Virginia, Gordon attended Wabash College. He made his Negro leagues debut in 1908 with the Indianapolis ABCs, and went on to play for the Leland Giants, Chicago Giants, and French Lick Plutos. Samantha "Sam" Gordon (born February 21, 2003) is an American football and soccer player from the Salt Lake City area. After Youtube videos of her skills were uploaded by her father, they went viral and led to her making several media appearances. Achievements and viral popularity In 2012, while regularly playing against all-male teams (competing with some players who were up to twice her weight), Gordon compiled 25 touchdowns and 10 extra point conversions on 232 carries for 1,911 rushing yards in a single season, averaging 8.2 yards per carry.
