Samuel Freedman
Samuel Freedman, (16 April 1908 – 6 March 1993), was a Canadians, Canadian lawyer and judge, who served as Chief Justice of Manitoba from 1971 to 1983. Personal life and education Born on 16 April 1908, to Nathan and Ada (Foxman) Freedman in Zhytomyr Oblast, Zhytomyr, Russian Empire (now Ukraine), Freedman moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, when he was three years old. He lived with his family in North End, Winnipeg, Winnipeg's north end, attending Gray Academy of Jewish Education, Aberdeen School and St. John's High School (Winnipeg), St. John's Technical High School. In 1934, Freedman married Brownie Udow. The two were parents to Martin Freedman, a former Justice of the Manitoba Court of Appeal whose first judicial appointment was to a position once held by his father.
