Samuel Hulme Day (29 December 1878 – 21 February 1950), known as Sammy Day, was an amateur sportsman who played first-class cricket for Kent County Cricket Club and association football for Corinthian F.C. He made three international appearances for the England football team as an inside forward. Early life Day was born in Peckham Rye in Southwark, the son of Sydney and Evelyn Day. Sam Day (jockey)
Sam Day (1802–66) was an English jockey who won The Derby on 3 occasions: in 1821 aboard the grey Gustavus, in 1830 on Priam and once again atop Pyrrhus The First in the 1846 Derby. He also won a 1,000 Guineas / Oaks double in 1846 on Mendicant. The son of John Day, and brother of John Barham Day, he became apprenticed to a trainer called Cooper, who trained for the Duke of York in Newmarket. After his second Derby win, he retired to a farm near Reading, but when this was not a financial success he wasted back down to 7 stone 12 pounds and, with help from his nephew John, resumed riding. When eventually he retired again, he trained on a small scale at Ascot. He was one of several horsemen from the Day family, but was reputed to be more honest than other family members. He was a cheerful, hardy man and a tough, wiry, elegant rider. Sam Day (Australian Rules Footballer)
Sam Day (born 6 September 1992) is an Australian rules footballer who plays for the Gold Coast Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Early life Day was born in Adelaide, South Australia. His grandfather Ian Day and great-uncle Robert Day both had long SANFL careers, while his uncle Tim Day represented the Australian national baseball team. Sam Day grew up playing a variety of sports and by high school he continued to play football, baseball and basketball at a high level. He attended Prince Alfred College throughout his schooling years and was forced to choose between baseball and basketball college offers in the United States or nominating for the AFL's national draft. After a strong final year with Sturt in the SANFL and an All-Australian selection at the Under 18 national championships, Day settled on football. Sammy (comics)
''Sammy'' is a popular humour Belgian comics series. It first started in 1970 in the weekly comic '' Spirou'' magazine, it has been published in book form, and even been the subject of several omnibus editions by Dupuis. Raoul Cauvin wrote the series while artist Berck (aka Arthur Berckmans) drew the first thirty or so adventures before being succeeded by Jean-Pol (aka Jean-Pol Van Den Broeck). Set mainly in 1920s Chicago, the series centres on freelance bodyguards Jack Attaway and his sidekick Sammy Day. Their assignments have them protecting people from all walks of life, from young children to celebrities, fighting gangsters both at home and abroad and even facing elements of fantasy and science-fiction. The real-life gangster Al Capone and his sworn enemy Eliot Ness of the " Untouchables" are also regular characters. Although occasionally violent, the emphasis of the series is on humour.
