Sami Mohamed Wafa is a retired naturalised Qatari footballer who played as a goalkeeper for the Qatar national team in the 1984 Asian Cup. He also played for Al Sadd at club level. Al Sadd Sports Club ( ar, نادي السد الرياضي, lit=Dam Sports Club) is a Qatari sports club based in the Al Sadd district of the city of Doha. The Qatar national football team ( ar, منتخب قطر لكرة القدم) represents Qatar in international football, and is controlled by the Qatar Football Association and AFC. The team has appeared in ten Asian Cup tournaments and won it once in 2019, beating Japan, Saudi Arabia, and South Korea in the process, conceding just one goal. 1984 Asian Cup
The 1984 AFC Asian Cup was the 8th edition of the men's AFC Asian Cup, a quadrennial international football tournament organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The finals were hosted by Singapore between 1 December and 16 December 1984. The field of ten teams was split into two groups of five. Saudi Arabia won their first title, beating China in the final 2–0. Qualification 21 teams competed in qualifying for the 1984 AFC Asian Cup with the teams being separated into three groups of five teams and one group of six. The top two of each group would qualify through to the Asian Cup as they would join Singapore and Kuwait who automatically qualified. At the end of the qualifying, the remaining eight teams was filled in which included Saudi Arabia as they made their finals debut. Nada Arkaji
Nada Mohamed Wafa Arakji ( ar, ندى عرقجي) (born 30 October 1994) is a Qatari swimmer. She competed in the 50 m freestyle at the 2012 Summer Olympics, becoming the first woman to represent Qatar at the Olympics. She served on the bid committee for Doha's bid to host the 2020 Summer Olympics. Arakji's family is heavily involved in sports.
