''Samandar'' is an Indian television series that was broadcast on the Doordarshan network from 1995 to 1996. The 25-episode series depicted members of the Indian Navy. It was produced by Wing Commander Anup Singh Bedi VSM (Ret.), supported by jatt musician/singer Col (Dr) Sultan Singh Malik from the Indian Army. The cast included Bollywood and Indian television personalities such as Vineeta Malik, Samir Soni, Girish Malik, Aman Verma and others, with special appearances by real Indian Navy officers. The visuals included manoeuvres from and pictures of Indian Naval fleet. DD National
DD National (formerly DD1) is a state-owned public entertainment television channel in India. It is the flagship channel of Doordarshan, India's public service broadcaster, and the oldest and most widely available terrestrial television channel in India. History 1959 to 1982: Beginnings On 15 September 1959, at the studio of All India Radio, Delhi, the first TV channel in India started an experimental telecast with a small transmitter and a makeshift studio, adopting the brand ''Doordarshan'', Hindi for television. Until 1965, AIR was responsible for the programming production and overall control over content, as the television service began to assume overall production. Doordarshan (abbreviated as DD; Hindi: , ) is an Indian public service broadcaster founded by the Government of India, owned by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and one of Prasar Bharati's two divisions. ''Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai'' (), popularly known as ''YRKKH'' is an Indian Hindi-language romantic family drama television series that airs on StarPlus and streams on Disney+ Hotstar. Samir Soni
Samir Soni is an Indian film and television actor, director and former fashion model. Career Soni made his debut in the Hindi serial '' Samandar.'' In 1996, he appeared as Ashok Mathur in Doordarshan's '' A Mouthful Of Sky''. He made his film debut in '' China Gate'' (1998), which was followed by cameo appearances. In 2003, Soni appeared in the film ''Baghban'' and played lead roles in ''Basti'' and ''Kahan Ho Tum''. Also that year, Soni also worked in the television series ''Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin''. In 2004, he worked in ''Saaksshi''. Soni featured as a contestant in the reality television show '' Bigg Boss 4'' in 2010. Aman Verma (actor)
Aman Verma (born 11 October 1971) is an Indian television anchor and actor. As an anchor, Verma is best known for hosting the game show ''Khullja Sim Sim'' on Star Plus from 2001 to 2004. His other hosting duties were with Mini Mathur in the first season of Indian Idol on Sony TV and Zee TV's Zee Cinestars. He has also acted in Bollywood movies.
