Samuel Leeland Simmons (born November 25, 1979) is a former American football wide receiver of the National Football League and Arena Football League. He was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the fifth round of the 2002 NFL Draft. He played college football at Northwestern. The 2002 NFL draft was the 67th annual meeting of National Football League (NFL) franchises to select newly eligible football players. The draft is known officially as the "NFL Annual Player Selection Meeting" and has been conducted annually since 1936. A return specialist or kick returner is a player on the special teams unit of a gridiron football team who specializes in returning punts and kickoffs. There are few players who are exclusively return specialists; most also play another position such as wide receiver, defensive back, or running back.
