Kevin James Gallagher (22 January 1926 — 20 August 2019) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Norwood Football Club in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) and also represented South Australia in interstate football. All-Australian Team
The All-Australian team is an all-star team of Australian rules football in Australia, Australian rules footballers, selected by a panel at the end of each season. It represents a complete team, including an interchange bench, of the best-performed players during the season, led by that season's premiership coach. Despite its nature, the All-Australian team is only ceremonial. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). During general play, players may position themselves anywhere on the field and use any part of their bodies to move the ball. The primary methods are kicking, handballing and running with the ball. Norwood Football Club
Norwood Football Club, nicknamed the Redlegs, is an Australian rules football club competing in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) in the state of South Australia. Its home ground is Coopers Stadium (Norwood Oval), which is often referred to as "The Parade". It is also the state's governing body for the sport. Representative matches in Australian rules football are matches between representative teams played under the Australian rules, most notably of the colonies and later Australian states and territories that have been held since 1879. For most of the 20th century, the absence of a national club competition in Australia and international matches meant that intercolonial and later interstate matches were regarded with great importance. Philip Gallagher (born 1955?) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Norwood Football Club in the South Australian National Football League The South Australian National Football League, or SANFL ( or ''S-A-N-F-L''), is an Australian rules football league based in the Australian state of South Australia. It is also the state's governing body for the sport. Originally formed as the ... (SANFL). He is the son of Sam Gallagher, who also represented Norwood. Outside of football, Gallagher worked as a chartered accountant. After retiring as a player, he served as a League director and club chairman of Norwood from 1996 to 1999. Gallagher became a member of the South Australian Football Commission in 2000 and currently serves as the Commission's Deputy Chairman.
