Nji Siti Salmah (born 6 June 1926) is an Indonesian actress and singer whose career spanned the 1940s to the 1970s. Her varied career spanned film, stage, and radio. She was the part of Classical Indonesian cinema, Classical Indonesian Cinema. Early life Nji Siti Salmah was born on 6 June 1926 in Bogor, Buitenzorg, Dutch East Indies, as the youngest of five children from a Sundanese farmer family, and was raised in Cianjur, Tjiandjoer. Personal life Salmah was married to Eddy Jono, an employee of PELNI, in 1946, and has one child. The couple separated in November 1954. In March 1955, Salmah resided in Kebon Kosong, Kemayoran, while Jono resided in Jatinegara. Career Salmah started her career by joining the Dendang troupe during the Japanese occupation of the Dutch East Indies. She later joined the Djantung Hati troupe. The Empire of Japan occupied the Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia) during World War II from March 1942 until after the end of the war in September 1945. Arizal (born in Airmolek, Indragiri, Riau on January 11, 1943 - died on May 18, 2014) was a prominent Indonesian film director. Career His parents, Ibrahim Sidi Mangkuto and Matayam bt M. Yasin, were of Minangkabau descent. He studied at the Faculty of Economics, University of Indonesia. Arizal is one of Indonesia's most productive film directors and script writers. He directed 52 films and 8 soap operas (''sinetron'') with 1,196 episodes between 1974 and 2006. He directed the comedy film series of Warkop DKI.
