Salada Tea
Salada tea is a Canadian brand of tea currently sold in Canada by Unilever and in the United States by Salada Foods, a division of Redco Foods, Inc. History The Salada tea business was founded in Toronto in 1892 by Montreal-born businessman Peter Charles Larkin. His main innovation was to replace tea sold loose from tea chests with a product packaged in foil. This helped establish a uniform flavor for Salada and the promise of consistent freshness to its drinkers. It became one of the leading teas in Canada and the northeastern United States. By 1917, Salada tea was so popular in the United States that Larkin's company (the Salada Tea Company Limited) was able to establish a U.S. headquarters, blending and packaging plant at 330 Stuart Street in Boston, Massachusetts. Red Rose Tea is a beverage company established by Theodore Harding Estabrooks in 1894 in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. Estabrooks began his career in trade imports and exports, and soon moved specifically to the tea trade. Realizing the inconsistency in loose leaf servings, Estabrooks began packaging his tea leaves into single-serving bags to ensure quality and consistency in every teacup. Shirriff
Shirriff is the brand name of several food products first produced by the defunct Shirriff family food products company in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Francis Shirriff founded a food extracts company in the 1880s. The company would go on to develop a line of food products including marmalades, dessert toppings and jelly and pudding mixes. The company remained a family business until the 1950s when it was sold to the owner of the Dominion Stores chain. Later, the firm was bought by Kelloggs of Canada. Henry Wilson (architect And Designer)
Henry Wilson (12 March 1864 – 7 March 1934) was a British architect, jeweller and designer. Career He was born at 91 Red Rock Street in West Derby near Liverpool on 12 March 1864. He studied at the Kidderminster School of Art before being articled to the architect Edward James Shrewsbury in Maidenhead. He then worked and was trained in the practices of John Oldrid Scott, John Belcher and J. D. Sedding. After Sedding's death in 1891 Wilson completed many of Sedding's schemes. He followed Sedding's ideals, but his designs were often more original and grander in scale. From about 1895 Wilson designed metalwork, church plate and furnishings, jewellery and sculpture, becoming a gifted craftsman in the Arts and Crafts Movement. Densmore and LeClear was an architecture and engineering firm based in Boston, active from 1897 through 1941. Firm history The founding principals were Edward D. Densmore (1871–1926) and Gifford LeClear (1874–1931). The partnership of Densmore & LeClear was formed in April 1897, practicing as mechanical and electrical engineers. One of the firm's major projects in this role was the design of the building systems for the new campus of the Harvard Medical School in Boston, in collaboration with architects Shepley, Rutan & Coolidge.
