Sakura (Ayaka Song)
is a song recorded by Japanese singer-songwriter Ayaka. It was officially released nationwide as a digital single through A Station on February 12, 2018. A limited physical release was initially made available through Ayaka's official fan club Room Ayaka and at concert venues for her Acoustic Live Tour 2017-2018 3-Star Raw concert tour on October 14, 2017. Background and composition Ayaka wrote "Sakura", while Japanese pianist Satoru Shionoya arranged and produced the track, in the spring of 2017, as her first graduation song. She began performing the song on tour in September 2017, and due to fan demand, recorded and released it as a CD single a month later through concert venues and her fan club. Ayaka states that the song came about because she wanted to write a song for "people of all ages" to "reminisce about memories of their youth". "Sakura" is the 45th single by Japanese boy band Arashi. It was released on February 25, 2015 under their record label J Storm. "Sakura" was used as the theme song for the television drama ''Ouroborous'', starring actors Toma Ikuta and Shun Oguri. The single was released in two editions: a first press/limited edition and a regular edition. The first press/limited edition contains the B-side "Rise and Shine" and the music video and making-of for "Sakura" while the regular edition contains two B-sides. The single sold 465,381 copies in its first week and topped the weekly Oricon Singles Chart. Contrary to popular belief, the song did not originate in ancient times; it was a popular, urban melody of the Edo period. ''Sakura-Variationen'' (''Sakura Variations'') is a 2000 trio composition scored for saxophone, piano, and percussion by Helmut Lachenmann. It is written in the form of variations on a Japanese folk song about the cherry blossom called "Sakura Sakura". It was published by Breitkopf & Härtel. In 2008, Lachenmann expanded the work to ''Sakura mit Berliner Luft''. History Original version Lachenmann composed the work for a concert for children at the Kölner Philharmonie, given by Trio Accanto which at the time included his wife Yukiko Sugawara as pianist. He based the composition on a traditional Japanese folk song about the cherry blossom, "Sakura Sakura", and wrote variations for saxophone, piano and percussion. The composer writes that he takes children seriously, and therefore composed a piece that is cheerful and serious. ''Sakura'' is a full-length album from electronic artist Susumu Yokota, released in 1999 in Japan on Skintone Records (STR03) and on 11 September 2000 in the United Kingdom on The Leaf Label (BAY13). It was named as the top electronic release of the year 2000 by The Wire. Some tracks sample elements of Harold Budd's album "The Pavilion of Dreams". , known by his stage name Sakura, is a Japanese musician. He is perhaps best known as former drummer of the rock band L'Arc-en-Ciel from 1993 to 1997. After leaving them he formed the supergroup Zigzo, the trio Sons of All Pussys, and his solo project Lion Heads.
