Saint Francis Red Flash Men's Basketball
The Saint Francis Red Flash men's basketball team represents Saint Francis University (Pennsylvania), Saint Francis University in Loretto, Pennsylvania, United States. The school's team currently competes in the Northeast Conference. They play their home games at DeGol Arena. The Red Flash have appeared in the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship, NCAA tournament twice, most recently in 2025. History Jim Baron Era (1987–1992) Baron led The Red Flash to their first NCAA tournament appearance in 1991, where they lost in the First Round to the Arizona Wildcats 93-80. In 1992 Baron left to coach at his alma mater, Saint Bonaventure. His record was 74-71. Northeast Conference
The Northeast Conference (NEC) is a collegiate athletic conference whose schools are members of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Teams in the NEC compete in Division I for all sports; football competes in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). Participating schools are located principally in the Northeastern United States, from which the conference derives its name. 1991 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament
The 1991 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament involved 64 schools playing in single-elimination play to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division I college basketball. It began on March 14, 1991, and ended with the championship game on April 1 in Indianapolis, Indiana. A total of 63 games were played. Duke, coached by Mike Krzyzewski, won a rematch of the previous year's national final matchup against undefeated UNLV 79–77 in the semifinal, then won the national title with a 72–65 victory in the final game over Kansas, coached by Roy Williams. This was the first national championship game for Williams as a head coach. Kansas defeated Williams' mentor Dean Smith and North Carolina (where Williams later coached) in the semifinal. Kansas made its second trip to the national championship game in four seasons, the prior appearance being 1988 when they defeated Oklahoma. The 2018–19 Saint Francis Red Flash men's basketball team represented Saint Francis University (Pennsylvania), Saint Francis University during the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Red Flash, were led by seventh-year head coach Rob Krimmel, played their home games at DeGol Arena in Loretto, Pennsylvania as members of the Northeast Conference. The Red Flash finished the 2018–19 season at 18–15, 12–6 in NEC play to finish in a tie for first place. Due to tie breakers, they were the 1-seed in the 2019 Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Tournament. The Red Flash defeated Bryant in the quarterfinals and LIU Brooklyn in the semifinals, yet lost in the championship game to Fairleigh Dickinson.
