Marcel of Paris () or St Marcellus was the 9th bishop of Paris and namesake of a Bells of Notre-Dame de Paris, bell of Notre-Dame de Paris. Biography Marcellus of Paris was born in Lutetia (now île de la Cité, Paris), located in Gallia Lugdunensis, Roman Gaul, within the Western Roman Empire. His dedication to virtue and prayer led to his recommendation to Prudentius, bishop of Paris, who ordained him as Reader. He was then promoted to priesthood and succeeded Prudentius after his death. His preaching led to the conversion of many Paganism, pagans, and miracles like turning water from the Seine into wine and balsam made him famous. Saint-Marcel () is a station on Line 5 of the Paris Métro, located in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, under the Boulevard de l'Hôpital. Location The station is located under the Boulevard de l'Hôpital, south of the intersection of the Rue des Wallons. It is the first underground station for southbound passengers after Gare d'Austerlitz. The station serves Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital. History The station was opened on 2 June 1906 with the commissioning of the first section of Line 5 between Gare d'Orléans (now Gare d'Austerlitz) and Place d'Italie. It owes its name to its proximity to the beginning of Boulevard Saint-Marcel, named for a 5th-century bishop of Paris, who died in 436 and was famous for his mythical miracles. Saint-Marcel-lès-Annonay
Saint-Marcel-lès-Annonay (; ) is a commune in the Ardèche department in southern France. The village was founded in 972. The Deûme passes through Saint-Marcel and flows into the Cance with Annonay. Water from these rivers come from the granitic areas and is very pure. Their patent rights have been recognized for several centuries with the rise of paper mills. The paper mills of Annonay by Montgolfier-Canson formed only two groups in the 18th century from Vidalon and Faya-Largeau. In 1805, Jean-Baptiste de Montgolfier was detached from Vidalon to create a factory in Saint-Marcel. Paper production was a large contributor to the rise of the commune and was the main industry for a long period of time. The employees of paper mills were called ''les usines'', French for factory and formed the integral part of their culture and life.
