Sailor Of Fortune
''Sailor of Fortune'' is a 1955 British-Canadian TV series starring Lorne Greene. There were 26, 25 minute episodes film for this television series. Several episodes were directed by John Guillermin. It was filmed at New Elstree Studios and Nettlefold Studios, both near London. Greene would go on to star in the popular United States, American TV western series ''Bonanza''. John Guillermin
John Guillermin (11 November 192527 September 2015) was a French-British film director, writer and producer who was most active in big-budget, action-adventure films throughout his lengthy career. His more well-known films include '' I Was Monty's Double'' (1958), ''Tarzan's Greatest Adventure'' (1959), ''Never Let Go'' (1960), ''Tarzan Goes to India'' (1962), '' Waltz of the Toreadors'' (1962), ''The Blue Max'' (1966), ''The Bridge at Remagen'' (1969), ''The Towering Inferno'' (1974), ''King Kong'' (1976), ''Death on the Nile'' (1978), '' Sheena'' (1984) and ''King Kong Lives'' (1986). In the 1980s, he worked on much less prestigious projects, and his final films consisted of lower-budgeted theatrical releases and TV movies. Lorne Hyman Greene (born Lyon Himan Green; 12 February 1915 – 11 September 1987) was a Canadian actor, musician, singer and radio personality. His notable television roles include Ben Cartwright on the Western ''Bonanza'' and Commander Adama in the original science-fiction television series ''Battlestar Galactica'' and ''Galactica 1980''. He also worked on the Canadian television nature documentary series ''Lorne Greene's New Wilderness'' and in television commercials. New Elstree Studios
New Elstree Studios was a British film studio complex that was the main production centre for the Danziger Brothers from 1956 to 1962, and was one of several sites collectively known as " Elstree Studios". 60 B-movies and 350 half-hour TV episodes were filmed there, for both British and American markets. History Edward and Harry Danziger were American-born brothers who moved to Britain in 1952 and began making television films, using resources at various facilities including London's Riverside Studios, Shepperton, Borehamwood and Nettlefold. In 1955, the Danzigers decided to form their own studio base and founded the New Elstree Studios in Hertfordshire. ''Bonanza'' is an American Western television series that ran on NBC from September 13, 1959, to January 16, 1973.
