Sailing At The 2015 ASEAN Para Games
Sailing at the 2015 ASEAN Para Games was held at Marina Bay, Singapore, from 6 to 8 December 2015. There were initially 4 gold medals for the 4 boat classes: single-person dinghy - Hansa 2.3 Men and Hansa 2.3 Women; Open Hansa 303 (2-person dinghy) plus the International 2.4mR (single-person keelboat). Not enough countries entered for the 2.4mR class, so this event was cancelled. All 3 boat classes had at least a pair of competitors trading leadwith only 1 point to differentiate podium places Tension reigned all the way to the final races coupled with extremely challenging light airs made Sailing at the 2015 ASEAN Para Games an unforgettable regatta. The sport of sailing involves a variety of competitive sailing formats that are sanctioned through various sailing federations and yacht clubs. Racing disciplines include matches within a fleet of sailing craft, between a pair thereof or among teams. Additionally, there are specialized competitions that include setting speed records. 2015 ASEAN Para Games
The 2015 ASEAN Para Games, officially known as the 8th ASEAN Para Games, and commonly known as Singapore 2015, was a Southeast Asian Disabled sports, disabled multi-sport event held from 3 to 9 December 2015 in the city-state of Singapore. Unlike the previous editions the games were held six months after the closing of the 2015 Southeast Asian Games. This was Singapore's first time as host of the ASEAN Para Games. Around 1811 athletes participated at the Games, which featured 336 events in 15 sports. Singapore is the seventh nation to host the event after Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia and Myanmar. It was opened by Tony Tan Keng Yam, the President of Singapore at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The Singapore Sailing Federation (Abbreviation: SSF; ), also known as SingaporeSailing, is the National Sports Association (NSA) responsible for the management and organisation of the sport of sailing in Singapore. The Federation works closely with Sport Singapore, on various fronts and adheres to the various rules and regulations required by Sport Singapore for NSAs. Cherrie Pinpin
Cherrie "Cherry" Samonte Pinpin (born October 27, 1962), is a Filipina Paralympic sailor who crewed in the SKUD 18 Two-Person Keelboat class, Sailing at the 2008 Summer Paralympics, Beijing. Early life Cherrie Samonte Pinpin was born in Quezon City on October 27, 1962. A below knee osteosarcoma developed starting age 9 so by age 11, she elected for an above-knee amputation to halt the spread of cancer. She attended the UP Integrated School, Diliman, Quezon City but graduated as a Visual Arts scholar from the Philippine High School for the Arts, Los Baños, Laguna. Pinpin graduated with a BFA Visual Communication degree from the University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City. 2017 ASEAN Para Games
The 2017 ASEAN Para Games ( ms, Sukan Para ASEAN 2017), officially known as the 9th ASEAN Para Games ( ms, Sukan Para ASEAN ke-9), was a Southeast Asian disabled multi-sport event held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 17 days after the 2017 Southeast Asian Games from 17 to 23 September 2017. This was the third time Malaysia host the ASEAN Para Games and its first time since 2009. Previously, Malaysia also hosted the inaugural games in 2001. Around 1452 athletes participated at the event, which featured 369 events in 16 sports. It was opened by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Najib Razak at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.
