The Women's 470 (dinghy), 470 was a sailing event on the Sailing at the 2004 Summer Olympics program in Agios Kosmas Olympic Sailing Centre, in the 470 (dinghy), 470 dinghy. Agios Kosmas Olympic Sailing Centre
The Agios Kosmas Olympic Sailing Centre hosted the sailing events at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece Athens ( ; el, Αθήνα, Athína ; grc, Ἀθῆναι, Athênai (pl.) ) is both the capital and largest city of Greece. With a population close to four million, it is also the seventh largest city in the European Union. Athens dominates .... The center is located about four miles from downtown Athens along the coast. It was officially opened on August 2, 2004, a few weeks before the Olympics, though test events were conducted at the site in August 2002 and 2003. The center had a capacity of 1,600 for the medal ceremonies. After the Olympics, the site was turned over to the private sector (Seirios AE), and will become a marina with a 1,000+ yacht capacity, as part of Athens' revitalized waterfront. Nikola Girke
Nikola Girke (born December 30, 1977, in Grande Prairie, Alberta) is a Canadian sailor and a five-time Olympian. She is amongst only a few elite athletes who have made the transition from one sport to another and has achieved a top 10 in the world across three different sport disciplines. She finished 13th at the 2004 Summer Olympics in the 470, then switched to RSX windsurfing and placed 17th at the 2008 Summer Olympics. At the 2012 Summer Olympics she finished 10th in the RS:X. Girke was named to Canada's 2016 Olympic team to compete in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, as part of the Nacra 17 with Luke Ramsay. The duo placed 15th. Girke also competed in windsurfing at both the 2011 Pan American Games and the 2015 Pan American Games placing 4th and 6th respectively. Maria Fernanda Sesto (born 8 October 1976 in Buenos Aires) is an Argentine sports sailor. She has competed at the 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics. At the 2000 Summer Olympics, she teamed with Paula Reinoso in the women's 470 class, finishing in 12th place. The same pairing took 12th at the 2004 Olympic Games also. Margriet Matthijsse (born 16 April 1977, in Rotterdam) is a sailor from the Netherlands, who represented her country for the first time at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. Lisa Westerhof
Lisa Laetitia Westerhof (born 2 November 1981, in De Bilt) is a sailor from the Netherlands. Westerhof represented her country at the Optimist World Championship in 1995 and 1996, becoming only the second girl to win the championship outright. She sailed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. With crew Margriet Matthijsse took Westerhof 9th place as helmsman in the Dutch Women's 470.
