Sadie Lee
Sadie Lee is a British painter, best known for her feminist pieces. Early life and education Sadie Lee was born in 1967 and grew up in Yorkshire, England. She studied as a Fine Art student at the Epsom School of Art and later studied mural painting and marbling at the Hackney Institute. She moved to London in 1988. Work Lee's painting of David Hoyle is included in Queer Britain and won the 2021 Queer Britain Madame F Award. Surrey Institute of Art & Design, University College (SIAD) was an art college in the United Kingdom from 1994 to 2005. It was formed from the merger of West Surrey College of Art and Design (1969–1995) and Epsom School of Art and Design (1893–1995). It merged with the Kent Institute of Art & Design on August 1, 2005 to form the University College for the Creative Arts at Canterbury, Epsom, Farnham and Rochester, now the University for the Creative Arts. David Hoyle (performance Artist)
David Hoyle (born 19 September 1962) is an English performance artist, avant-garde cabaret artist, singer, actor, comedian and film director. His performances are known to combine many disparate elements, from satirical comedy to painting, surrealism and even striptease, much of which is aggressive in nature. Himself homosexual, Hoyle's work has often focused on themes in the LGBTQ community, attacking what he sees as dominant trends in "bourgeois Britain and the materialistic-hedonistic gay scene". According to ''The Guardian'' his performances have led him to become "something of a legend" on the London cabaret circuit. Born into a lower-middle-class background in Layton, Blackpool, Lancashire, Hoyle was heavily bullied for his homosexuality as a child, leading to a mental breakdown aged fourteen. Queer Britain
Queer Britain is a museum of British LGBTQ history and culture located in Kings Cross, London. It is the first dedicated LGBTQ museum in the UK. The museum consists of three connected galleries plus a shop and occupies the ground floor of 2 Granary Square, a building owned by the Art Fund, with office and studio space on lower ground. Admission is free. History Queer Britain was founded in February 2018 by Joseph Galliano, a former editor of ''Gay Times'', and Ian Mehrtens. It was registered as a charity in September 2019.
