Louis Beethoven Prout
Louis Beethoven Prout (1864–1943) was an English entomologist and musicologist. Prout specialised in the insect order of Lepidoptera, especially the Geometridae, or geometer moths, on which he was a foremost authority. His notebooks and publications formed the basis of the Geometridae card indexes in the Natural History Museum, the then British Museum (Natural History). He was the secretary of the North London Natural History Society and worked in association with the Natural History Museum at Tring. He is not to be confused with his sister Alice Ellen Prout who was a fellow of the Entomological Society of London.
