Juan Santamaría International Airport ( es, Aeropuerto Internacional Juan Santamaría) is the primary airport serving San José, the capital of Costa Rica. The airport is located in the city of Alajuela, 20 km (12 miles) west of downtown San José. La Fortuna, San Carlos
La Fortuna is a district of the San Carlos canton, in the Alajuela province of Costa Rica. Toponymy "La Fortuna" is Spanish for "The Fortune", and aptly named due its ample supply of tourist attractions and extremely fertile lands. Although there is a common myth that the town got its name due to its sparing from the Arenal Volcano's eruptions, the town actually got its name before the latest eruption cycle and was named for the fertile lands ("The Fortune") where it is located. History La Fortuna was created on 5 February 1952 by Decreto Ejecutivo 15. Originally called "El Burío", La Fortuna was founded in the mid 1930s by settlers that came from Ciudad Quesada, Grecia (canton), Alajuela and other parts of the region. Puerto Jiménez Airport is an airport serving Puerto Jiménez, a Gulf of Dulce coastal town in Puntarenas Province, Costa Rica. The airport is just east of the town. Puerto Jiménez
Puerto Jiménez is the thirteenth canton of the Puntarenas province of Costa Rica. It is located in the Osa Peninsula next to the Golfo Dulce and the Pacific Ocean, it is the main gateway to the Corcovado National Park. Puerto Carrillo
Puerto Carrillo is a district of the Hojancha canton, in the Guanacaste province of Costa Rica. History Puerto Carrillo was created on 23 July 1999 by Decreto Ejecutivo 28027-G. Segregated from Hojancha. Geography Puerto Carrillo has an area of km² and an elevation of metres. Situated along the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica's Guanacaste Province, Puerto Carrilo is a jewel among Costa Rica's Pacific beaches. The town itself is very small (less than 500 full-time residents) and is predominantly a sport-fishing village with a handful of nice hotels, restaurants, two small food markets, and tour operators. While there are only a limited number of hotels and places to eat in Carrillo, many options are available in the nearby town of Samara, just 4 km away. Palmar Sur Airport
Palmar Sur Airport is an airport serving the adjacent towns of Palmar Norte and Palmar Sur in Osa Canton, Puntarenas Province, Costa Rica. Palmar Norte and Palmar Sur are divided by the Térraba River at its exit from the coastal mountain range, inland from the Pacific Ocean. The airport is on the southern bank, and north approach and departure cross the river. There is a mountain immediately north of Palmar Norte, and mountainous terrain northwest through northeast of the airport. Nosara
Nosara is a district of the Nicoya canton, in the Guanacaste province of Costa Rica. History Nosara was created on 26 January 1988 by Acuerdo 40. Geography Despite the Nicoya peninsula being one of the last locations with large areas of unpaved roads in Costa Rica, Nosara is one of the oldest expatriate communities in the country, as well as a fishing and agricultural area. Limón International Airport ( es, Aeropuerto Internacional de Limón) in Limón, Costa Rica, is one of the four international airports in that country. Limón
Limón (), commonly known as Puerto Limón, is a district, the capital city and main hub of Limón province, as well as of the Limón canton in Costa Rica. It is the seventh largest city in Costa Rica, with a population of over 55,000, and is home of the Afro-Costa Rican community. Part of the community traces its roots to Italian, Jamaican and Chinese laborers who worked on a late nineteenth-century railroad project that connected San José to Puerto Limón. Until 1948, the Costa Rican government did not recognize Afro-Caribbean people as citizens and restricted their movement outside Limón province. As a result of this "travel ban", this Afro-Caribbean population became firmly established in the region, which influenced decisions not to move even after it was legally permitted.
