S.C. Arnold
S. C. (Steve) Arnold (March 29, 1884 – March 21, 1961) was a longtime legislator in the state of Montana who served as Montana Secretary of State from 1955 to 1957. A Republican Party (United States), Republican, Arnold supported Dwight D. Eisenhower and won the 1956 Montana GOP presidential primary in Eisenhower’s stead, as a “favorite son” candidate. Early life Arnold was born March 29, 1884, in Moundridge, Kansas. He received a bachelor’s degree from McPherson College, a master’s degree and doctorate in pharmacy from Valparaiso University, and later taught at Chicago Business College. In 1908, Arnold served as a Kansas delegate to the Republican National Convention, which nominated William Howard Taft for president. The 1932 Montana gubernatorial election took place on November 8, 1932. Incumbent Governor of Montana John E. Erickson, who was first elected governor in 1924 and was re-elected in 1928, ran for re-election. He won the Democratic primary with a plurality and advanced to the general election, where he faced Frank A. Hazelbaker, the Lieutenant Governor of Montana. Despite the fact that Franklin D. Roosevelt carried the state in a landslide in the presidential election that year, Erickson only narrowly defeated Hazelbaker to win re-election to his third and final term as governor, though he would later resign just a few months into his term to appoint himself to the United States Senate. Lawrence Joseph Sarsfield Daly (January 22, 1912 – April 17, 1978), a.k.a. Lar "America First" Daly, was a fringe American politician who ran unsuccessfully for a variety of political offices (including President of the United States), often campaigning wearing an Uncle Sam suit. Joe Foss
Joseph Jacob Foss (April 17, 1915January 1, 2003) was a United States Marine Corps major and a leading Marine fighter ace in World War II. The Flathead Valley is a region of the U.S. state located in the Northwestern Montana. It includes parts of Flathead County and Lake County.
