Ruta Gerulaitis ( lt, Rūta Gerulaitytė; born November 18, 1955) is a former professional tennis player from the United States. She is the sister of Vitas Gerulaitis. Biography Early life Gerulaitis, the daughter of Lithuanian immigrants, grew up in New York City. She and Vitas, an elder brother, were the only children of Vitas Gerulaitis Sr. and Aldona Gerulaitienė (née Čenkutė). It wasn’t until the age of 15 that she began playing tennis competitively. Tennis career Gerulaitis and her brother teamed up at the 1975 US Open to make the quarter-finals of the mixed doubles. Rūta Birutė Jokubonienė (14 January 1930 – 14 May 2010) was a Lithuanian textile artist. Biography In 1954, Rūta Birutė Jokubonienė graduated from the Lithuanian Institute of Fine Arts where she studied with Balčikonis J. Sofia Veiverytė. From 1954 to 1962, she worked in a factory in Kaunas. From 1962 to 1985, she worked at the P. Ziberto silk factory in Kaunas, and from 1985 to 1990, she worked at the Restoration Trust for Culture in Vilnius. From 1972 to 1978, she taught at the Art Institute of Kaunas, Lithuanian Department of the west. Rūta Jokubonienė created more than 250 multi-purpose fabrics. Rūta Meilutytė (; born 19 March 1997) is a Lithuanian swimmer. An Olympic gold medalist, she is a world record holder in the short course 50 metre breaststroke and 100 metre breaststroke. She is a former world record holder in the long course 50 metre breaststroke and 100 metre breaststroke. At the age of 15, Meilutytė had already broken eleven Lithuanian women's swimming records. Rūta Ščiogolevaitė-Damijonaitienė (born 25 June 1981) is a Lithuanian singer. She decided late in her career that she wanted to be known as just Rūta. Life and career Early life Ščiogolevaitė was born on 25 June 1981 and raised in Šiauliai, Lithuania. She attended a local music school in her birth city, Šiauliai. Afterwards, she developed her interest in music, including piano classes, at the age of 14 in one of the most professional conservatoires of the country in the capital of Lithuania, Vilnius. Rūta Vanagaitė (born January 25, 1955) is a Lithuanian theatre critic, writer, public relations specialist, journalist and a public figure of Vilnius. She is a controversial figure, mostly known for her efforts to raise public awareness about participation of Lithuanians in the Holocaust.
