Rørvik Church
Rørvik Church ( no, Rørvik kirke) was a parish church of the Church of Norway in Vikna municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the town of Rørvik on the island of Inner-Vikna. It was one of the churches for the Vikna parish which is part of the Namdal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The modern, concrete and glass church was built in a long church design in 2019 using plans drawn up by the architect Ogmund Sørli. The church seats about 250 people, but can be expanded up to about 400 people. History The first church in Rørvik was built in 1896 after the people of the village of Rørvik asked for a church in their village since the nearest church, Garstad Church, was a long boat trip away. The government agreed and it was built. The new church was consecrated on 27 October 1896 by Bishop Johannes Skaar. Nærøysund
Nærøysund is a municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the traditional district of Namdalen. The municipality was established on 1 January 2020 after the merger of the old municipalities of Vikna and Nærøy. The municipality is unique in that it has two equal administrative centre: Kolvereid and Rørvik. The other main population centres of Nærøysund include Abelvær, Foldereid, Gravvik, Ottersøy, Salsbruket, Steine, Torstad, Austafjord, Garstad, and Valøya. Garstad Church
Garstad Church ( no, Garstad kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in the municipality of Nærøysund in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located in the village of Garstad on the island of Mellom-Vikna. It is the main church for the Vikna parish which is part of the Namdal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1856. The church seats about 320 people. History The first church was built at Garstad in Vikna in 1592, being consecrated on 1 November 1592. The church served the Vikna area for over 200 years before it burned to the ground after being struck by lightning on 20 January 1854. Soon after, the church was rebuilt on the same site. This list of churches in Nidaros is a list of the Church of Norway churches in the Diocese of Nidaros which covers all of Trøndelag county in Norway. The list is divided into several sections, one for each deanery in the diocese. Administratively within each deanery, the churches are divided by municipalities which have their own church council and then into parishes which have their own councils . Each parish may have one or more congregations in it. The municipality of Trondheim includes several deaneries within the municipality due to its large population. Historically, the diocese has had many deaneries, but the number of deaneries has been reduced in recent years. In 1995, the old Sør-Fosen prosti was merged with Orkdal prosti and on the same date the old ''Nord-Fosen prosti'' was renamed simply Fosen prosti. Herborg Finnset
Herborg Oline Finnset (born 28 March 1961 in Sørreisa, Troms) is a Norwegian prelate of the Church of Norway who is the Bishop of Nidaros as of 2018. Biography Finnset was pastor of Strinda parish in the Diocese of Nidaros, and later became Dean of Tromsø from 2005 till 2017. In 2014, she was also nominated as a candidate for the bishopric of Diocese of Nord-Hålogaland however she lost the majority of votes from the Church Council by seven to eight, and Olav Øygard was elected bishop. Finnset graduated from the Faculty of Law in Oslo, and was ordained priest in Oslo Cathedral in 1988. Prior to her arrival in Strinda, she had worked in Hålogaland as priest in charge of the church in Hammerfest, and later in Lenvik. Finnset is one of the forces behind Tromsø Church Music Festival.
