Réjean Hébert
Réjean Hébert is a Canadian politician and geriatrician. He was a member of the National Assembly of Quebec for the riding of Saint-François, first elected in the 2012 election, he served as Minister of Health and Social Services in the government of Pauline Marois. His narrow victory over Quebec Liberal Party candidate Nathalie Goguen was confirmed in a judicial recount on September 14, 2012. He was defeated in the 2014 Quebec election by Liberal candidate Guy Hardy. Hebert was dean of the School of Public Health at the Universite de Montreal. In September 2019, Hébert was confirmed as the federal Liberal Party of Canada candidate in the Longueuil—Saint-Hubert electoral district. He won the nomination by acclamation, but did not win the election. Hébert was married and had children before coming out as gay at age 40. Quebec Liberal Party
The Quebec Liberal Party (QLP; french: Parti libéral du Québec, PLQ) is a provincial political party in Quebec. It has been independent of the federal Liberal Party of Canada since 1955. The QLP has always been associated with the colour red; each of their main opponents in different eras have been generally associated with the colour blue. An independent or non-partisan politician is a politician not affiliated with any political party or bureaucratic association. 2008 Quebec General Election
The 2008 Quebec general election was held in the Canada, Canadian Provinces and territories of Canada, province of Quebec on December 8, 2008. The Quebec Liberal Party, under incumbent Premier Jean Charest, was re-elected with a majority government, marking the first time since the 1950s (when the Union Nationale (Quebec), Union Nationale of Maurice Duplessis won four consecutive elections) that a party or leader was elected to a third consecutive mandate, and the first time for the Liberals since the 1930s, when Louis-Alexandre Taschereau was Premier. The 2008 election also marked the first time that Québec solidaire won a seat. Agnès Maltais (born November 7, 1956) is a Canadian politician from Quebec. She was a Member of the National Assembly of Quebec for the riding of Taschereau in the Quebec City region. She represented the Parti Québécois. Maltais mostly worked in the theatrical sector being a development agent for Video-Femmes and the director of the Periscope and the la Bordée theaters. She was also a member of the Conseil québécois de théâtre. She was a political activist since 1976 when she obtained a diploma at the Cégep de Sainte-Foy. She was a spokesperson for the YES committee in the 1995 referendum and was involved in the organization of the Fête Nationale concerts and shows in 1991 and 1995. Sylvain Gaudreault
Sylvain Gaudreault (born July 8, 1970) is a Canadian politician and teacher. He was the Member of National Assembly of Quebec for the riding of Jonquière in the city of Saguenay from 2007 to 2022. He represents the Parti Québécois. On May 6, 2016, the party caucus chose him as interim leader following the resignation of PQ leader Pierre Karl Péladeau. Life and career Born in Chicoutimi, Quebec, Gaudreault went to the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi and obtained a bachelor's degree in history. La Tribune (Sherbrooke)
''La Tribune'' is a Canadian daily newspaper published in Sherbrooke, Quebec. The newspaper was founded on 21 February 1910 by Jacob Nicol, who would be appointed as senator in 1944. The first issue was published from a building in rue Wellington nord. The address later moved to 221 rue Dufferin at rue Frontenac and, in October 1976, again to 1950 rue Roy, in the industrial park in the west of the city. It was purchased by Paul Desmarais in 1955. It was sold on 14 March 2015 by Gesca to Groupe Capitales Médias, run by Martin Cauchon. The sale included ''La Tribune'' and five other regional publications. The paper spawned a radio and television station with the CHLT call letters. The radio station is now CKOY-FM, while the television station still has the CHLT calls.
