Régis Koundjia
Régis Junior Koundjia-Sindo (born 8 November 1983) is a Central African former professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the LSU Tigers basketball, LSU Tigers and George Washington Colonials men's basketball, George Washington Colonials from 2003 to 2007. Koundjia played with the Central African Republic national basketball team in the FIBA Africa Championship games in FIBA Africa Championship 2005, 2005, FIBA Africa Championship 2007, 2007 and FIBA Africa Championship 2009, 2009. He signed with the Vermont Frost Heaves of the Premier Basketball League (PBL) for the 2008–09 season after he played in the NBA Summer League for the San Antonio Spurs. Personal life Koundjia was born in Bangui, Central African Republic. His father, a Central African Republic diplomat, was killed by poisoning in 1991. Bangui
Bangui () (or Bangî in Sango, formerly written Bangi in English) is the capital and largest city of the Central African Republic. It was established as a French outpost in 1889 and named after its location on the northern bank of the Ubangi River (french: Oubangui); the Ubangi itself was named from the Bobangi word for the "rapids" located beside the settlement, which marked the end of navigable water north from Brazzaville. FIBA Africa Championship 2007
AfroBasket 2007 was the 24th FIBA Africa Championship, played under the auspices of the Fédération Internationale de Basketball, the basketball sport governing body, and the African zone thereof. The tournament was hosted by Angola, in the cities of Benguela, Cabinda, Huambo and Lubango. Angola won its fifth consecutive African championship and ninth overall by beating Cameroon 86-72 in the championship game. Cape Verde won the bronze medal game over Egypt. Angola qualified for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing whereas Cameroon and Cape Verde qualified for the 2008 Olympic Qualifying Tournament. The NBA Summer League, also known as the Las Vegas Summer League, is an off-season competition organized by the National Basketball Association.
