Râmnicu Vâlcea
Râmnicu Vâlcea (also spelled ''Rîmnicu Vîlcea'' or, in the past, ''Rîmnic-Vâlcea'', ) (population: 92,573 as per the 2011 Romanian census) is the county capital ( ro, Reședință de județ) and also the largest town of Vâlcea County, central-southern Romania (in the historical province of Oltenia). Geography and climate Râmnicu Vâlcea is situated in the central-south area of Romania and is the county capital of Vâlcea County. Set at the foothills of the Southern Carpathians, the town is located at about from the Cozia Mountains and about from the Făgăraș and Lotrului Mountains. Râmnicu Sărat
Râmnicu Sărat (also spelled ''Rîmnicu Sărat'', , german: Rümnick or ''Rebnick''; tr, Remnik) is a city in Buzău County, Romania, in the historical region of Muntenia. It was first attested in a document of 1439, and raised to the rank of ''municipiu'' in 1994. The city rises from a marshy plain, east of the Carpathians, and west of the cornlands of southern Moldavia. It lies on the left bank of the river Râmnicul Sărat. Salt and petroleum are worked in the mountains, and there is a considerable trade in agricultural produce and preserved meat. Population History Râmnicu Sărat was the scene of battles between the Wallachians and Ottomans in 1634, 1434 and 1573. It was also here that, in 1789 (during the Russo-Turkish War of 1787–1792), an army of Imperial Russian and Habsburg troops, commanded by Alexander Suvorov, defeated the Ottoman forces in the Battle of Rymnik. Cogealac
Cogealac is a commune in Constanța County, Northern Dobruja, Romania. The commune includes six villages: * Cogealac (historical names: ''Domnești'', tr, Kocalak) * Gura Dobrogei (historical names: ''Câvârgic'', tr, Kıvırcık) * Râmnicu de Jos * Râmnicu de Sus * Tariverde (historical name: ''Dorotea'') The territory of the commune also includes the former village of ''Colelia'' ( tr, Kuleli), at , disestablished by Presidential Decree in 1977. The former village was populated by Dobrujan Germans until 1942 and it is now the site of the Colilia Monastery. The Fântânele-Cogealac Wind Farm (with an installed nameplate capacity of 600 MW) is partly located on the territory of the commune. On March 2, 2022, while searching for a crashed MiG-21 LanceR in the area, an IAR 330 military transport helicopter crashed near Gura Dobrogei, killing 7 military personnel.
