Ryan Well Historical Reserve
__NOTOC__ Ryan Well Historical Reserve, formerly Reserve No. 1343, is a protected area in the Northern Territory of Australia located in the locality of Anmatjere about north of Alice Springs. The historical reserve consists of two parcels of land located on opposite sides of the Stuart Highway and its road reserve. The parcel on the west side of the highway contains the remains of Ryan Well, a well excavated in the 19th century to provide water to livestock moving along the Overland Telegraph Line, and a car park while the parcel on the east side of the highway contains the remains of a building known as the Glen Maggie Homestead. It first acquired protected area status as a "a place of historic interest" declared under section 103 of the ''Crown Lands Ordinance 1931-1971'' on 30 April 1974 by the Australian government in respect to the western parcel of land and was given the name Reserve No. 1343. __NOTOC__ Anmatjere is a locality in the Northern Territory of Australia located about south of the territory capital of Darwin. History The locality was named after the former Anmatjere Community Government Council, whose seat was located in the town of Ti-Tree. Its boundaries and name were gazetted on 4 April 2007. Governance and demographics Anmatjere is located within the federal division of Lingiari, the territory electoral division of Stuart and the local government areas of the Barkly Shire and the Central Desert Region. The 2016 Australian census reports that Anmatjere had 477 people living within its boundaries, of whom 47.3% were male, 52.7% were female and 87.9% identified as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. ''The Macleay Argus ''is an English-language newspaper published twice a week, on Tuesday and Friday, in Kempsey, New South Wales, Australia. In 1952 it absorbed ''The Macleay Chronicle'', which had been in publication since 1878. History ''The Macleay Argus'' commenced publication in 1885. Woodgreen Station
Woodgreen Station, also spelt Wood Green and also known as Atartinga, is a cattle station located in the Northern Territory of Australia, to the northeast of Alice Springs, extending approximately . It was also known as (Mer) Athatheng by some of the Indigenous people in the area. The first lessee of the pastoral lease created in 1918 was Bob Purvis Sr, who first ran it as a sheep station and bred horses, before introducing cattle.
