Ryan McClay
Ryan McClay (August 6, 1981 ) is an American lacrosse player. He plays defense for the New Jersey Pride in Major League Lacrosse since he was drafted by the team in the first round in the 2003 college draft. He played his college lacrosse at Cornell and his high school lacrosse at Mahopac High School in Mahopac, New York. McClay played on the US Men's National Lacrosse Team at the 2010 World Lacrosse Championships in Manchester, England. The US team defeated Canada 12-10 in the final to reclaim the World Championship. McClay was selected to the All-World team after the championships. Lacrosse
Lacrosse is a team sport played with a lacrosse stick and a lacrosse ball. It is the oldest organized sport in North America, with its origins with the indigenous people of North America as early as the 12th century. The game was extensively modified by European colonists, reducing the violence, to create its current collegiate and professional form. Players use the head of the lacrosse stick to carry, pass, catch, and shoot the ball into the goal. The sport has four versions that have different sticks, fields, rules and equipment: field lacrosse, women's lacrosse, box lacrosse and intercrosse. The men's games, field lacrosse (outdoor) and box lacrosse (indoor), are contact sports and all players wear protective gear: helmet, gloves, shoulder pads, and elbow pads. New Jersey Pride
The New Jersey Pride were a men's professional field lacrosse team in the Major League Lacrosse formerly based in Piscataway, New Jersey, United States from 2001-2008. Franchise history In 2001, the first year of the league’s existence, the Pride played its games at Yogi Berra Stadium at Montclair State University but TD Bank Park in Bridgewater Township, New Jersey in 2002 to 2003. For 2004 to 2005, the Pride played its home games on Sprague Field at Montclair State University. The Pride made the league's playoffs in 2002 and 2003. For the 2006 season, the Pride moved to the 5,000 seat stadium on the campus of Rutgers University which houses the Scarlet Knights’ soccer and lacrosse teams and is officially named The Soccer/Lacrosse Stadium at Yurcak Field in honor of Ronald N. Major League Lacrosse
Major League Lacrosse (MLL) was a men's field lacrosse league in the United States. The league's inaugural season was in 2001. Teams played anywhere from ten to 16 games in a summertime regular season. This was followed by a four-team playoff for the championship trophy, the Steinfeld Trophy, named after founder Jake Steinfeld. League attendance peaked at 6,417 in 2011 and the 2019 average was 4,587. The Chesapeake Bayhawks and New York Lizards (originally the Baltimore Bayhawks and Long Island Lizards) were MLL members throughout its existence and competed in the first three championship games, with the Lizards winning two. The Boston Cannons, the last of the six charter franchises to remain in their original market with their original name, won their first championship in 2011. Mahopac, New York
Mahopac ( or ) is a hamlet (and census-designated place) in the town of Carmel in Putnam County, New York, United States. Also known as Lake Mahopac, the exurb is located some north of New York City, on US Route 6 at the county's southern central border with Westchester County. As of the 2020 census, the population was 8,932. History Mahopac was originally inhabited by the Wappinger people, an Algonquian tribe. World Lacrosse Championships
The World Lacrosse Championship (WLC) is the international men's field lacrosse championship organized by World Lacrosse that occurs every four years. The WLC began before any international lacrosse organization had been formed. It started as a four-team invitational tournament which coincided with Lacrosse in Canada, Canada's centennial lacrosse celebration in 1967. Fairfield College Preparatory School (Fairfield Prep) is a Jesuit preparatory school located on the campus of Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut. It is an all-male school of about 700 students, founded by the Society of Jesus in 1942.
