Ryan Eagleson
Ryan Logan Eagleson (born 17 December 1974) is a former Irish cricketer. A right-handed batsman and right-arm fast-medium bowler, Ryan Eagleson made his debut for the Ireland cricket team against the Duchess of Norfolk's XI at Arundel Castle in June 1995 and went on to play for them on 65 occasions in all, his last match coming against the West Indies in June 2004. Of his matches for Ireland, one had first-class status and 16 had List A status. In all matches for Ireland, he scored 380 runs at an average of 13.10, his top score (and only half century) being an innings of 50 not out against Scotland in August 1996. He took 70 wickets at an average of 33.66, with best bowling figures of 4/59 against Leicestershire in June 1999. Fast bowling (also referred to as pace bowling) is one of two main approaches to bowling in the sport of cricket, the other being spin bowling. Practitioners of pace bowling are usually known as ''fast'' bowlers, ''quicks'', or ''pacemen''. They can also be referred to as a ''seam'' bowler, a ''swing'' bowler or a ''fast bowler who can swing it'' to reflect the predominant characteristic of their deliveries. Strictly speaking, a pure swing bowler does not need to have a high degree of pace, though dedicated medium-pace swing bowlers are rarely seen at Test level in modern times. Cricket At The 1998 Commonwealth Games
Cricket was included in the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Malaysia. This was the only time cricket was played at a Commonwealth Games until a women's tournament was included in the 2022 Commonwealth Games. Matches were played over 50 overs, and had List A status rather than full One Day Internationals. As is normal at the multisports events, the Caribbean islands that entered participated as separate nations, not as the combined West Indies team. Indeed, the Games were the first occasion on which an Antigua and Barbuda side competed at a senior level. The Northern Cricket Union of Ireland, more usually referred to as the N.C.U., is one of five provincial governing bodies in Ireland. Along with the Connacht, Leinster, Munster and North West unions, it makes up the Irish Cricket Union (now known as Cricket Ireland), the supreme governing body of Irish cricket. Carrickfergus Cricket Club
Carrickfergus Cricket Club is a cricket club in Carrickfergus, County Antrim, Northern Ireland, playing in the Premier League of the NCU Senior League. The club was established in 1868, and was one of the founder member clubs of the Northern Cricket Union in 1887 and remains one of the oldest surviving clubs in Ireland. Despite this longevity and pedigree, the club led a nomadic existence for more than 100 years. It was not until 1988 that their superb Middle Road ground and facilities were opened. The club made progress through the leagues and were promoted to the Northern Cricket Union Premier League in 2004 when a young AB de Villiers was appointed as their overseas professional. Hong Kong International Cricket Sixes
The Hong Kong Cricket Sixes is a Six-a-side international cricket tournament held at the Kowloon Cricket Club comprising between eight and twelve teams. Organised by Cricket Hong Kong, it is sanctioned by the International Cricket Council. The tournament is designed for television viewing, with rules and a venue that encourage aggressive batting and high scoring. Because every player (except the wicket-keeper) is required to bowl one over, the format suits all-rounders. Glamorgan County Cricket Club ( cy, Criced Morgannwg) is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Glamorgan ( cy, Morgannwg). Founded in 1888, Glamorgan held minor status at first and was a prominent member of the early Minor Counties Championship before the First World War. Essex County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Essex. 1999 English Cricket Season
The 1999 cricket season was the 100th in which the County Championship has been an official competition. The title was won by Surrey. Sponsorship by Britannic Assurance came to an end with PPP (Private Patients Plan) Healthcare taking over and the decision was made to split the championship into two divisions the following season. The top nine teams would form the first division with the bottom nine teams going into the second division. The Sunday League changed to a new format National League with games played midweek under floodlight.
