FERWABA
The Rwandan Amateur Basketball Federation () is the governing body of basketball in Rwanda. It operates the Rwanda national basketball team as well as the top-tier NBL and other amateur leagues. History In 1930, basketball was first brought to Rwanda by catholic priests and the first games were played in high schools in the South Province. After the independence in 1962, new teams were created in the army and from some public institutions. In 1974, the Rwandan Basketball Federation was created and the first national league started three years later. Rwanda Basketball League
The Rwanda Basketball League (RBL) (formerly the National Basketball League Rwanda) is the top professional basketball league in Rwanda. Its season usually runs from November to September. The winners of the NBL season qualify for the qualifiers for the Basketball Africa League (BAL). The league currently consists of 14 teams, most of them being from the country's capital Kigali. The current champion of the NBL are REG, having won the 2022 title. REG and their rival Patriots BBC have dominated the league, winning all titles since 2015. Since the 2021–22 season, the FERWABA also organises the Rwanda Basketball League Division 2 to which the bottom two teams of the RBL relegate. The Kigali Titans are a Rwandan professional basketball team based in Kigali. The team plays in the Rwanda Basketball League (RBL), the highest national level. History The organisation was founded in 2021 by pharmaceutical businessman Eugene Rubonera Junior after the FERWABA announced to create a national second division for men's teams. Cyril Kalima assumed the function of head coach. When we started in August 2021, we were playing in the lower division(D2) of the league, but we quickly showed our potential and worked hard to climb the ranks.
