Ruth Cameron is an American record producer and jazz vocalist. Biography Cameron came from a musical family, but first acted in theaters in North America and Europe. After marrying bassist Charlie Haden, she was his manager and co-produced many of his albums. Charlie Haden
Charles Edward Haden (August 6, 1937 – July 11, 2014) was an American jazz double bass player, bandleader, composer and educator whose career spanned more than 50 years. In the late 1950s, he was an original member of the ground-breaking Ornette Coleman Quartet. Haden revolutionized the harmonic concept of bass playing in jazz. German musicologist Joachim-Ernst Berendt wrote that Haden's "ability to create serendipitous harmonies by improvising melodic responses to Coleman's free-form solos (rather than sticking to predetermined harmonies) was both radical and mesmerizing. ''Rambling Boy'' is an album by bassist Charlie Haden. It was recorded in January and April 2008 at various locations, and was released later that year by Decca Records, Decca and EmArcy Records, Emarcy Records. On the album, Haden is joined by his "Family & Friends," including members of his immediate family plus guest musicians. Although Haden is best known for his involvement in jazz, he began his musical career at age 2 as part of the Haden Family Band, playing the role of a yodeling cowboy. ''Rambling Boy'' came about when, at a gathering to celebrate his mother's 80th birthday, Haden's wife Ruth Cameron suggested that the family sing "You Are My Sunshine". It was recorded at Capitol Studios, Studio B, Hollywood, California on October 10–13, 1999, with additional recording at Sear Sound, New York City on November 18–19, 1999. The material is standards. Verve Records
Verve Records is an American record label owned by Universal Music Group (UMG). Founded in 1956 by Norman Granz, the label is home to the world's largest jazz catalogue, which includes recordings by artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Stan Getz, Bill Evans, Billie Holiday, and Oscar Peterson, among others. It absorbed the catalogues of Granz's earlier label, Clef Records, founded in 1946; Norgran Records, founded in 1953; and material which was previously licensed to Mercury Records. Larance Marable
Larance Norman Marable (May 21, 1929 – July 4, 2012) was a jazz drummer from Los Angeles, California. Early life Marable was born in Los Angeles on May 21, 1929. His family was musical, but he was largely self-taught. Later life and career In the 1950s, Marable played with musicians who were visiting Los Angeles; these included Dexter Gordon, Charlie Parker, and Zoot Sims. Marable recorded as a leader in 1956. He also recorded with George Shearing, Chet Baker, Milt Jackson, and other well-known musicians. Drug problems led to Marable stopping playing in the 1960s. His career resumed in the mid-1970s, after he had ended his drug addiction. He toured with Supersax and Bobby Hutcherson in the 1970s, and was a member of Charlie Haden's Quartet West in the 1980s and 1990s. Marable had a stroke in the 2000s and lived in a health care facility. He died in Manhattan on July 4, 2012.
