Rusty Santos is a record producer and musician based in Los Angeles. He is known for producing, recording, mixing and/or mastering records like Animal Collective’s ''Sung Tongs'' and the reissue of ''Danse Manatee'', Panda Bear’s ''Person Pitch'', Born Ruffians’ ''Red, Yellow & Blue'', Owen Pallett's ''Heartland'' & '' In Conflict'', DJ Rashad's '' Welcome to the Chi'', Dawn of Midi's " Dysnomia", and many more. As a musician, he usually mixes his voice and guitar playing with samples. So far Santos has released four solo records and formerly played in The Present. Career Rusty Santos grew up in Fresno, California. As a teenager, he met drummer Jesse Lee and both played together from the mid to the late 1990s in punk and hardcore bands. TV on the Radio (TVOTR) is an American rock band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2001. The band consists of Tunde Adebimpe (vocals, loops), David Andrew Sitek (guitars, keyboards, loops), Kyp Malone (vocals, guitars, bass, loops), and Jaleel Bunton (drums, bass, vocals, loops, guitars). Hardcore punk (also known as simply hardcore) is a punk rock music genre and subculture that originated in the late 1970s. It is generally faster, harder, and more aggressive than other forms of punk rock. ''Heartland'' is the third full-length album by Canadian indie rock artist Owen Pallett, released January 12, 2010 on Domino Records. It's the first of Pallett's records to be released under their own name. Since the album was their first to be released in Japan, they wished to avoid generating confusion with the Final Fantasy video games from Square Enix, and to avoid infringing on any trademarks. Pallett stated that their previous albums will be repackaged and reissued under their own name at some point. The record was mixed by New York producer Rusty Santos. The album was a shortlisted nominee for the 2010 Polaris Music Prize. Concept and development As a prelude to the album, Pallett recorded an EP, ''Spectrum, 14th Century''. Michael James Owen Pallett (born September 7, 1979) is a Canadian composer, violinist, keyboardist, and vocalist. Under their erstwhile moniker of Final Fantasy, Pallett won the 2006 Polaris Music Prize for the album ''He Poos Clouds''. Pallett is also known for their contributions to Arcade Fire, having toured with the band and been credited as an arranger and instrumentalist on each of their studio albums. In January 2014, Pallett and Arcade Fire member William Butler were nominated for Best Original Score at the 86th Academy Awards for their original score of the film ''Her'' (2013). ''Danse Manatee'' is the first collaborative studio album between Avey Tare, Panda Bear, and Geologist, released in July 2001 on the label Catsup Plate. It was later retroactively classified as the second studio album by their band Animal Collective. Background Only one thousand copies were made for the Catsup Plate release, but it was reissued as a double CD along with ''Spirit They're Gone, Spirit They've Vanished'' in 2003 on FatCat Records.
