Ruston Kelly
Ruston Samuel Kelly (born July 31, 1988) is an American singer-songwriter. After landing a publishing deal with BMG Nashville in 2013, he got his first cut with Tim McGraw's song "Nashville Without You", which appeared on McGraw's album ''Two Lanes of Freedom''. Following a record deal with Razor & Tie's Washington Square, he released his debut EP ''Halloween'' produced by Mike Mogis in 2017. In 2018 Kelly signed with Rounder Records and released his debut studio album '' Dying Star'' to generally favorable critical appraisal. Personal life Ruston Kelly was born in South Carolina. His family moved frequently because of his father's job. He comes from a musical family. He began playing music and writing songs as a teenager. Kelly attended Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. Kelly struggled with drug addiction for years and decided to pursue a life of sobriety following an overdose in December 2015. ''Shape & Destroy'' (also referred to as SAD) is the second studio album by American country music singer and songwriter Ruston Kelly, released on August 28, 2020. It followed Kelly's 2018 album, '' Dying Star''. Development The album was co-produced by Kelly and longtime collaborator Jarrad Kritzstein and is intended to document's Kelly's path to sobriety. Kelly stated that the album's title was inspired from the practice of free writing, which he sees as a means of self-preservation and catharsis. Kelly's father, Tim "TK" Kelly, sister Abby Kelly, and then-wife Kacey Musgraves contributed backup vocals to the album. "TK" Kelly also contributed on steel guitar. Jarrad Kritzstein, (born September 9, 1987) also known as Jarrad K, is an American record producer, songwriter, filmmaker and actor. He is known for co-writing/producing Ruston Kelly’s debut LP “Dying Star” and Elohim’s self-titled album, “Elohim.” Early life and education Kritzstein was born in Orange County, California. Career As a young man, Kritzstein starred as Jimmy Kidd on the PBS television show ''Wishbone'', as well as voiced Tiny Tim in the animated ''A Christmas Carol''. Kritzstein has directed and produced various music videos for Baywood and Zak Waters, and has worked as a professional film/video editor from a very young age. In 2011, Kritzstein collaborated with Australian artist Megan Washington to write/produce her last single, "Holy Moses," and "Insomnia," (the title track) from the album Insomnia/I Believe You Liar. Josh Abbott Band is a Texas country band originally from Lubbock, composed of Josh Abbott (vocals, guitar), Austin Davis (banjo), Preston Wait (fiddle, guitar, steel), Edward Villanueva (drums), Caleb Keeter (guitar), David Fralin (keys/mandolin), and Jimmy Hartman (bass guitar, harmony vocals).
