Russians In Cyprus
There are approximately 18,000 Russian Cypriots living in Cyprus, according to government statistics, many of them in Limassol and are citizens of Cyprus. Guardian estimated the number as 50,000 in 2018. Russian Cypriots are a minority group on the island. However, almost all of them arrived to or were born in Cyprus following the Dissolution of the Soviet Union, which occurred after the writing of the Constitution of Cyprus, so they are not afforded the same constitutional privileges as other smaller minority groups like Armenian Cypriots, Maronite Cypriots and Roman Catholic Cypriots. Limassol
Limassol (; el, Λεμεσός, Lemesós ; tr, Limasol or ) is a city on the southern coast of Cyprus and capital of the district with the same name. Limassol is the second largest urban area in Cyprus after Nicosia, with an urban population of 183,658 and a metropolitan population of 239,842. Cypriot–Russian relations refers to bilateral foreign relations between the Republic of Cyprus and the Russian Federation. The Soviet Union established diplomatic relations with the newly independent Republic of Cyprus on 18 August 1960. Maronite Cypriots
The Maronites in Cyprus, Maronite Cypriots, are an ethnoreligious group and/or members of the Maronite Catholic Archeparchy of Cyprus whose ancestors migrated from present-day Lebanon during the Middle Ages. A percentage of them traditionally speak a dialect which is a combination of Arabic, Turkish and Greek, recently recognized as a variety of Arabic known as Cypriot Arabic, in addition to Greek.
