Russell County, Alabama
Russell County is a county in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Alabama. As of the 2020 census, the population was 59,183. Its county seat is Phenix City. Its name is in honor of Colonel Gilbert C. Russell, who fought in the wars against the Creek Indians. Russell County is part of the Columbus, GA-AL Metropolitan Statistical Area. Of all counties in the United States, Russell County has the most amount of people working in a state other than their own, at over 54% of the population, most of whom work in Columbus, Georgia. Colby Ryan Rasmus (born August 11, 1986) is an American former professional baseball outfielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the St. Louis Cardinals, Toronto Blue Jays, Houston Astros, Tampa Bay Rays and Baltimore Orioles. He has also played for the United States national baseball team. Early years Rasmus played as pitcher and first baseman for Phenix City National Little League during the 1999 Little League World Series. Cory Taylor Rasmus (born November 6, 1987) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Angels. Professional career Atlanta Braves Rasmus was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the first round of the 2006 Major League Baseball Draft out of Russell County High School. The Braves added him to their 40-man roster after the 2012 season. Rasmus played for the Triple-A Gwinnett Braves until he was called up to the Braves on May 18, 2013.
