Rushen (constituency)
Rushen ( gv, Rosien) is a House of Keys constituency in the south of the Isle of Man which incorporates most of the parish of Rushen together with the village districts of Port Erin and Port St Mary. Until 2016 the constituency covered the whole of the sheading of Rushen except for the parish of Malew and the town of Castletown, and elected three MHKs. (Malew was removed from the constituency in 1986.) In 2016 the constituency boundaries were redrawn. This constituency lost the parish of Arbory and a small part of the parish of Rushen and now consists of most of the parish of Rushen, plus the village districts of Port Erin and Port St Mary Port St Mary ( gv, Purt le Moirrey or ''Purt-noo-Moirrey'') is a village district in the south-west of the Isle of Man. John Rimmington
John Rimington MHK was the Minister of Local Government and the Environment of the Isle of Man Government from 2004 to 2006. He was also Member of the House of Keys between 2000 and 2006 for Rushen Rushen ( ; gv, Rosien), formally Kirk Christ Rushen, is one of the seventeen historic parishes of the Isle of Man. It is located in the south of the island (part of the traditional ''South Side'' division) in the sheading of the same name. John Corrin
John Corrin (10 September 1934 – 30 November 2005) was a former Minister in the Isle of Man Government and Member of the House of Keys. Corrin was educated on the island at Arbory School and Castle Rushen High School, and on leaving school at the age of 17 he joined the British Army. He served in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and was posted to many places, including the Middle East from 1953 to 1955, the Rhine Army from 1961 to 1962 and the Far East from 1962 to 1964. He returned to the Isle of Man to marry, and he worked for Malew Engineering Limited at Ronaldsway from 1965 until 1970. He also became involved in the work of the Transport and General Workers Union. In 1986 he was elected as one of the Members of the House of Keys for Rushen. In 1991, after the General Election, he was appointed Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. Miles Walker
Sir Miles Rawstron Walker (born 13 November 1940) is a Manx businessman and politician, who was the first ever Chief Minister of the Isle of Man. Early life and career Born on 13 November 1940 to George Denis Walker and Alice (née Whittaker), he was educated at Castle Rushen High School and the Shropshire Agricultural College. He later went on to become a company director in the farming and retail dairy trade. He was an Arbory commissioner (a local government role) from 1970 until 1976, latterly as the chairman. In 1976 he was elected as an MHK for Rushen. He remained an MHK until he retired at the 2001 General Election. In 1986 he was elected as the island's first ever Chief Minister, and continued in the post until the 1996 election. He was honoured as Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 1991. Noel Cringle
Noel Quayle Cringle Order of the British Empire, OBE (16 December 1937 – 28 August 2021) was President of Tynwald, the legislature of the Isle of Man, from 2000 to 2011. Cringle was born and raised in Ballabeg, educated at Castle Rushen High School and became a farmer and later an auctioneer (Central Marts Limited). Married to Mary, with two sons. He was an Arbory Parish Commissioner from 1964 to 1974. He was first elected a House of Keys, Member of the House of Keys in 1974 as a member for Rushen (constituency), Rushen. He lost his seat in 1986, whilst Chairman of the Home Affairs Board, but regained it in 1991, continuing as a Member for Rushen until 2000. From 1996 to 2000 he was Speaker of the House of Keys. Edmund Lowey
Edmund Lowey MLC (born 12 February 1938) is a Manx politician, who is a Member of the Legislative Council in the Isle of Man. Early life Edmund was born in 1938 in Ballasalla and was educated at Castle Rushen and then worked for the Ronaldsway Aircraft Company from 1964, until 1975. He then stood for the Manx Labour Party in the House of Keys election of 1975 and was elected as one of the MHKs for Rushen. He continued in this position until his elevation to the Council in 1982.
