Ruqaya Al-Ghasra
Ruqaya Al-Ghasra ( ar, رقية الغسرة; born September 6, 1982), is a Bahraini athlete. She was one of the first women to represent Bahrain at the Olympic Games, by Bahrain at the 2004 Summer Olympics, taking part in the women's 100 metres sprint at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens."Running into History" ESPN, September 25, 2004 (Bahraini women had, however, taken part in the Paralympics as early as 1984.) She won medals at the 2006 Asian Games and went on to run at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2009 World Championships in Athletics. She announced her international retirement in 2009. Athletics (sport)
Athletics is a group of sporting events that involves competitive running, jumping, throwing, and walking. The most common types of athletics competitions are track and field, road running, cross country running, and racewalking. The results of racing events are decided by finishing position (or time, where measured), while the jumps and throws are won by the athlete that achieves the highest or furthest measurement from a series of attempts.
