Rupa And The April Fishes
Rupa and the April Fishes is a global alternative group based in San Francisco, California, fronted by composer, singer and guitarist Rupa Marya. The group's songs are a mixture of musical styles ranging from jazz to punk to reggae to chanson, with lyrics in multiple languages (primarily French, Spanish and English). The group began as a duet between Rupa Marya and cellist Ed Baskerville, and then grew to a band in San Francisco. The name derives from the French saying " poisson d'avril r, which means "April Fools'". The group was featured on BBC World Service's and Public Radio Internationals ''The World''. Mosaic Music Festival was an annual 10-day-long music festival in Singapore that featured both local and overseas acts. From 2005-2014, the festival showcased a variety of music genres, ranging from indie-folk to hip-hop. It aimed to provide a platform for interaction between Singapore and International artists. The performances were held at various venues at the Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay. Rajasthan International Folk Festival (or Jodhpur RIFF or Jodhpur folk festival) is an annual music and art festival organized to promote traditional folk music and arts held at Mehrangarh Fort, Jodhpur, Rajasthan. History The festival was first organized as a not-for-profit partnership between Mehrangarh Museum Trust and Jaipur Virasat Foundation in October 2007. The festival is timed to match the time of the brightest full moon of the year (which in Northern India is known as Sharad Purnima). The chief patron of the festival is Maharaja Gaj Singh. Millennium Park is a public park located in the Loop community area of Chicago, operated by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs. WOMAD ( ; World of Music, Arts and Dance) is an international arts festival. The central aim of WOMAD is to celebrate the world's many forms of music, arts and dance. ''The World'' is a US public radio news magazine with an emphasis on international news. The program originated partly in response to declining coverage of international news by US commercial media. It is co-produced by WGBH and the Public Radio Exchange (PRX) of the United States. ''The World'' was the first co-production of Public Radio International.
