''Runway'' ( bn, রানওয়ে) is a 2010 Bangladeshi drama film directed by Tareque Masud with his wife Catherine Masud. It was his last feature film. Plot Ruhul, a young, frustrated boy, lives in a small hut near an international airport. The story deals with Islamic extremism in Bangladesh. Tareque Masud
Tareque Masud (6 December 1956 – 13 August 2011) was a Bangladeshi independent film director, film producer, screenwriter and lyricist. He first found success with the films ''Muktir Gaan'' (1995) and ''Matir Moina'' (2002), for which he won three international awards, including the International Critics' FIPRESCI Prize, in the Directors' Fortnight at 2002 Cannes Film Festival. The film became Bangladesh's first film to compete for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Masud died in a road accident on 13 August 2011 while returning to Dhaka from Manikganj on the Dhaka-Aricha highway after visiting a filming location. Masud was working on '' Kagojer Phool'' (The Paper Flower). In 2012, he posthumously received Ekushey Padak, the second highest civilian award of Bangladesh. Catherine Masud
Catherine Masud ( bn, ক্যাথরিন মাসুদ) is an American-born filmmaker, residing in Bangladesh from 1995–2015. She now lives in the United States. She has collaborated with her husband & filmmaking partner Tareque Masud to make numerous shorts, documentaries and features, many of which have been nationally/internationally awarded and shown around the world. Since Tareque's untimely death in August 2011, Catherine has devoted herself to the archiving and preservation of his work, and the completion of their unfinished oeuvre. Professional life A graduate of Brown University, she also studied fine arts at the Art Institute of Chicago, and film production in New York. Mishuk Munier
Ashfaque Munier (September 24, 1959August 13, 2011; known as Mishuk Munier) was a Bangladeshi media specialist and broadcast journalist. He was known for his photography direction and for being the cofounder of the global news channel The Real News Network. He was one of three sons of Munier Chowdhury. Mishuk served as the chief executive officer and chief editor of satellite TV channel ATN News. He died in a road accident, along with Tareque Masud, on August 13, 2011. The Bangladeshi Cinema, better known as Dhallywood ( bn, ঢালিউড), is the Bengali-language film industry based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It has often been a significant film industry since the early 1970s. The dominant style of Bangladeshi cinema is melodramatic cinema, which developed from 1947 to 1990 and characterizes most films to this day. Nazmul Huda Bachchu (11 July 1938 – 28 June 2017) was a Bangladeshi film and television actor. He won Bangladesh National Film Award. Early life and education From 1938 to 1950 he was in Kolkata with his parents. His father was a doctor at Kolkata Railway Hospital. After partition they moved to East Pakistan (Bangladesh). Bachchu completed his post graduation in political science from the University of Dhaka in 1963. Bachchu began his career in music and became a singer and music director. While he was a student, he served as a singer on the radio. In 1961, he provided vocals for the song "Obhimaan Korona" in the film '' Harano Din'', directed by Mustafizul Haq.
