Rungstedlund Award
The Rungstedlund Award is an award of honor, founded by the Rungstedlund Foundation (''Rungstedlundfonden'') in 1991. The DKK 25,000 prize is annually handed to a person who has made a notable contribution in an area which interested Karen Blixen. The prize is handed at the birthday of Karen Blixen on 17 April. The award comes from a gift from Hørsholm Municipality at the opening of the Karen Blixen Museum on 14 May 1991. Rungstedlund was the country house in Rungsted near Copenhagen which was owned by Karen Blixen from 1939-58. Rungstedlund is now the site of the Karen Blixen Museum. Klaus Rifbjerg
Klaus Rifbjerg (15 December 1931 – 4 April 2015) was a Danish writer. He authored more than 170 novels, books and essays. In 1965 he co-produced the film '' 4x4'' which was entered into the 4th Moscow International Film Festival. Biography Rifbjerg was born in Copenhagen and grew up on the island of Amager, which is part of the city, the child of two teachers. Later he studied English and literature, in Copenhagen and for a year in the US at Princeton University. His breakthrough was in 1958 with the novel ''Den kroniske Uskyld''. It was made into a film in 1985, directed by Edward Fleming. From that time on he published more than 100 novels as well as poetry and short story collections, plays, TV and radio plays, film scripts, children's books and diaries. Rifbjerg is also known for having been a journalist and critic. Palle Nielsen
Palle Louis Nielsen (8 August 1920 – 5 September 2000) was a Danish illustrator and graphic artist. Considered to be one of the masters of his times, his works include drawings, watercolours, woodcuts and linocuts. Biography Born in Copenhagen, Nielsen was brought up in the harbour area of the old town. Nielsen attended Kunsthåndværkerskolen (School of Arts and Crafts) from 1937 to 1939. Thereafter he studied privately under Aksel Jørgensen before entering the painting school at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (1945–47). In 1946, he married the graphic artist Elsa Nielsen. Nielsen first exhibited at the Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition in 1949. Thorkild Bjørnvig
Thorkild Strange Bjørnvig (; 2 February 1918, Aarhus, Denmark – 5 March 2004, Samsø) was a Danish author and poet. Overview Bjørnvig studied literature at the University of Aarhus and his prize winning MA thesis (1947) was about Rainer Maria Rilke, whose works he later translated into Danish. With Bjørn Poulsen he founded the literary journal ''Heretica'', as a reaction against the modernist and realist wave in Danish literature, that had prevailed in the years before the Second World War. Bjørnvig also edited the first two volumes of the magazine. ''Heretica'' was largely inspired by the British periodical ''The Criterion'' by T. S. Tove is a Scandinavian given name that derives from the Old Norse name Tófa. The name is usually given to girls but occasionally to boys. It is also an alternative English spelling of the Hebrew name more commonly spelled Tovah or Tova. Inger Christensen
Inger Christensen (16 January 1935 – 2 January 2009) was a Danish poet, novelist, essayist and editor. She is considered the foremost Danish poetic experimentalist of her generation. Life and work Born in the town of Vejle, on the eastern Jutland coast of Denmark, Christensen's father was a tailor, and her mother a cook before her marriage. Suzanne Preis Brøgger Zeruneith (born 18 November 1944 in open) is a Danish writer, a novelist, poet and journalist. Her first book ''Fri os fra kærligheden'' has been translated into c. 20 languages. Since 1997 she has been a member of the Danish Academy. Early life Brøgger grew up in Denmark until she was fourteen, after that she moved abroad with her mother and her stepfather Svend Brøgger, who worked for UNICEF and was stationed in Colombo, Sri Lanka and later in Bangkok, Thailand. Suzanne Brøgger returned to Denmark to attend high school a couple of years later. She finished the Silkeborg Gymnasium (a secondary school) in 1964, and she then studied Russian and French at the University of Copenhagen.
